I think that's exactly why he got moved...he asked to be dealt because he realized the team was going in the rebuilding direction and he wanted to compete because his window is shrinking. He'll be fine in New York - I fully expect him to drive up his average as he gets settled in the LF gig. He fills a huge hole the Yanks had now that Gardiner is gone for the year (speed and defense).
The Jays should deal some of the vets (whatever is left). I know I say this often, but I really think they're 1 or 2 years away from being a top level team.
Our field is pretty much set. I'd even move Escobar to 2B and Hechavarria could play SS. We do, however, need pitching. Romero blows right now but hopefully it's just an off year. Morrow pitched like a #1/#2 before he got hurt. Hopefully Happ can be a quality #4/#5, and the combo of prospects can make up 2 others. Most likely Alvarez.
It appears as though no one has commented on the NCAA sactions against Penn State in the wake of the Jim Sandusky pedophile scandal. I wasn't expecting much but I was delighted at the severity of the sanctions imposed.
Stripping Joe Paterno of 14 years worth of victories was entirely justified. All I can say is in your face to Ashton Kuchar and all those Penn state students and alumni who felt that being a good coach trumped being an enabler of a pedophile. Good on the NCAA.
Raiders are my team but cheering for them is like cheering on the Leafs. Lots of front office talk. 1 or 2 great players but other then that not much there.
My #2 team always has been the Packers. Rodgers gonna put on a show again this year.
Really ILCN? Are we stuck in 2009? He was their 3rd or 4th best Linebacker last year. He's a good linebacker, but Cushing is miles better and Barwin had a better year. Add in a beast of Whitney Mercilus, and they're Top 5 Defence is looking EVEN BETTER.
Quarterback: Top 10-15
Running Back: League Leader Combined Past 2 Years
Wide Receiver: Top 2 Wide Receiver (Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson)
O-Line: Top 10
Defence: Top 5
There's no reason that Houston couldn't have beat the Ravens last year to go to the AFC Championship, but unfortunately they had 3 key injuries. Couldn't win with a 3rd String Quarterback.
EDIT: I'd also rather Brooks Reed than Mario Williams.
Just for all you people who are interested, TSN2 is showing the first half hour of Roger Clemens' come back at 8 pm. Should be interesting to see how he pitches after all these years. I'm pretty pumped.
That Boston trade would be like the Sens trading Michalek, Methot, Spezza, and Ceci for Patrik Berglund and some prospects.
it's nothing like that. It's a completely different sport anyway.
Getting rid of Crawford and Beckett was like Montreal getting rid of Gomez. Gonzalez was another huge contract and he disappointed last season and this season. He was the kicker in the deal, and it's not like they wanted him gone if he wasn't making so much coin. They are starting fresh in Beantown.
