Theres a point though where the general saftey of your fellow man should outway the costs. However, you are correct, it wont happen, but thats because the Greens speak louder that an unconcious hockey player.

Install international-sized rinks, and watch the number of such incidents go way down.
The NHL (Bettman) missed the boat on this 5-6 years ago when all these new arenas were getting built...
Looks like Jeff Skinner has a concussion. He has hit by Ken Sutton last week. Sutton hit Ponikarovsky in the head but wasn't tossed for the hit. Later in the period,Sutton came across and nailed Skinner who had his head down. Skinner looked kind of dazed. He missed their next game in Winnipeg with the "flu" and now the Canes say Skinner has an undisclosed injury.

Jeff Skinner, the Canes' leading scorer, missed the Jets game with what the team announced Friday were flu-like symptoms. The Canes were off Saturday and Skinner was not at practice Sunday - forward Drayson Bowman was an emergency recall from the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.
Skinner, according to the Hurricanes, now is sidelined an undisclosed injury. Muller said Skinner returned to Raleigh for evaluation and did not rule him out of Tuesday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Skinner took a hard hit from Edmonton's Andy Sutton in Wednesday's game, but Muller said there were no concussion issues.
If you remember,Brian Boyle nailed Skinner along the boards when the Rangers played Carolina on December 1. Skinner took two big hits in one week.
The Flyers said Chris Pronger had a "virus" but now its a concussion. Claude Giroux left the Flyers game on Saturday with an injury. Flyers don't want to use the word "concussion". They said Giroux was doing better yesterday. No further update.
Pittsburgh allowed Kris Letang to return a few minutes after Max Pacioretty hit him. Letang scored the GWG. Pittsburgh came to the Garden to play the Rangers but Letang wasn't feeling well. Sent back to Pittsburgh where the concussion was diagnosed. Pacioretty knows better than to hit Letang the way he hit him after the big brouhaha after the Zdeno Chara hit. Pacioretty was concussed and then he concusses another player.
Ryan Malone sees Ryan McDonagh is off balance and then shoves McDonagh into the boards head first. Malone looks astonished when he gets called for a penalty.
Sidney Crosby returns from his concussion and starts running around looking to be Mr.Tough Guy. He gets involved with David Krejci. As Don Cherry said on Coach's Corner,if want trouble you're going to find it in this league.

How was Steve Downie not suspended for coming off the bench against us?
They said it was a "legal change" meaning somebody must have come off first.
Since we all know Downie's history, it is pretty clear he was saved by a technicality. We were down a man in the first place and he had no right to come into a scrum where AA was already being teamed up on.
15 years from now we will be looking back and wondering "What kind of career numbers could this guy have put up?"
Its a damn shame, really. If that collision put him out, what will happen when he takes another real knock?
It does seem that way.
Obviously we can't say with any certainty how this will all end for Sidney, but from my experience in knowing guys with concussions and from observing professional sports for a couple decades, guys that have these types of lingering issues generally don't "get better." They always come back and recover to some degree but it's a persistent issue until they retire.
I hate Sidney Crosby and I hate the Penguins. Still, it's regrettable to see a guy with so much talent having to go through this.
Gross reported Staal and Gaborik were riding the stationary bikes together Saturday in Buffalo. Staal made the trip to Buffalo. He was the only injured player to make the trip. Staal skated late last week before the Rangers practices. It seems he is working on getting his conditioning back. Rangers strength coach Reg Grant works with Staal in that area which is off limits to the media.
Even if Crosby can make a recovery (such as it would be) from his current problems, you know that there are going to be a whole load of young tough guys who will target him. Maybe not with headshots per se, but more than ever, everyone will be making sure to finish their checks on him and make his life harder, and (assuming what we believe to be true about the repeat nature of concussions) that will lead to even more injury troubles.
I can't stand the guy, and I loathe their team, but it's a major blow to the sport if he's never the same again.

Crosby needs to stop acting like a tough guy on the ice... about the only thing I've agreed on with Don Cherry.
That's what it seems like with all the concussions going around. Spreading around like the flu.
It's nothing new. It's just under the microscope now whereas previously it was never really evaluated. Now that the league's best player is suffering from one, naturally it's going to be even more of a hot button topic.

People always say this, but the NHL had record breaking TV ratings during the end of last season and the beginning of this season that he didn't play in. No one is going to stop watching hockey because Crosby is out. If the NHL was smart, they would start marketing other players such as Stamkos more.
