Yeah but he's talking about a problem involving prepositional logic, so that can't be what it means.

The statement he's got there says (if I'm reading it correctly)

"There exist x,y such that Fxy or Fyx"

and apparently the question is whether or not that statement is true. I can't figure out what Fxy and Fxy mean though.

AP Language and Composition AP exam today. Wasn't too hard, but 3 full essays in 2 hours is so ****ing ridiculous. Don't think anyone finished the third one.

Have AP US History next Wednesday. Not worried too much about that one.

The rest of my actual finals are jokes.

It seems Fxy means x is a cause of y
http://books.google.ca/books?id=-zsN...%20fyx&f=false

So I think what the sentence means is:

There exist some x and y such that either x causes y or y causes x
Prove that this is logically equivalent to
There exist some x and y such that x causes y

Which seems invalid by common sense.

I mean, say y is crappy goaltending and x is losing the game.
crappy goaltending causes losing the game (∃x∃y Fyx)
but losing the game doesn't cause crappy goaltending (∃x∃y Fxy)

But I have basically no knowledge of formal logic, so definitely don't take my word for it. Don't even know what he means by "tableau method"

The GUI for project 1 looks like crap because Panels and Containers have issues

Everything just clumped together in a 3 x 3 panel

GridLayout(3,3,1,5) or whatever

Can't combine panels and put them in BorderLayout in that project...but it works fine in another project.

Only have 4 exams this semester. Seems manageable.

First exam (math) is on Wednesday. Worth 50%

10th, 11th, 12th, and 20th. Last class is on the 4th. Going in with an A~ in all but one of them. I want to ensure all of those A's are A's or A+s. The other class...meh. I tried really hard but the prof (English) was just super subjective and actually had the class average at like a C- or something ridiculous. His idea of an A paper is something that he would write -- so I'll be happy with my B or B- garbage.

Geotechnical I on the 10th
Hydraulics II on the 14th
Groundwater on the 16th
Structural Analysis on the 19th

Great schedule. I get to catch the Stars in Toronto on the 6th thanks to such a late start. Started to study today, feeling pretty good.
