All around pretty sweet, although Fleury was in full-blown BS save mode. Bryz looked really sharp too. 3-2 so neither was a star of the game, but I thought both would have deserved a nod.
Are you kidding me? His last 4 starts have been pretty good.
Yeesh really?
He made some nice stops in the previous games, but for a goalie making as much as he is, a weak goal in every other game does not classify as "pretty good" in my books.
In both the Anaheim and Buffalo games he let in at least one weak goal and some could argue two in each game
If it werent for the Flyers forwards scoring a ton recently, both the games in Buffalo and Anaheim would have been losses.
He still needs to be way better than he is playing now. Tonight was a step in the right direction, but he is not playing "pretty good" right now to me. If he stops giving up weak goals every other game, then maybe I'll reconsider my statement. Until then, he hasnt nearly lived up to expectations of an elite level goalie
wow what a dirtbag move by Malkin. I am sure that went unnoticed by the Pens announcers. Hopefully Giroux takes a number and remembers that crap.
I saw thE full clip on NHL on the fly. Giroux was slashed on the hand by Malkin, G then gave a tap to the legs of Malkin. Not satisfied, G threw a elbow at Malkin and you've seen the rest.
I hope everybody is saving these somewhere for every good save he makes. We can get a lot of mileage out of those
Now, time to be Captain Serious: Yes, we beat the Pens, and we beat them without Pronger...however, they're still without Crosby and ravaged by a lot of key injuries. We basically saw the Flyers beat Pens Lite. While I know that the team was tired from back to backs with travel, it was a bit disgruntling to see them largely blow the lead.
It was, however, very gruntling to see Bryz take none of that crap, stand tall, and earn the win.

Well, I decided to look at GAON/60. JVR has the worst on the team (3.57) amongst regular starters. His GFON/60 doesn't quite make up for it, either; the stats confirm his seemingly disappointing play thus far. Giroux's stat here is far from impressive as well, but unlike JVR he does make up for it by producing loads of offense with Jagr and Hartnell.
But, the real reason I was checking this stat: Couturier has 1.04 GAON/60 while starting every game. For a rookie that's pretty incredible. Also noteworthy...Simmonds. While many have complained about him on offense, his GAON/60 is 1.75. Not too shabby; while he isn't exactly an offensive dynamo, teams aren't scoring a whole lot while he's on the ice. Read is right in his neighborhood as well, which only increases my Read mancrush.
