Yeah how dare this team try to play young players.

God forbid JFJ sits a game.

Biggest difference between this year and last is the play of Hiller and Lydman. They both are shells of themselves.

JFJ was replaced by Beleskey on the 4th line. So are you saying Beleskey isn't tough, Beleskey doesn't hit, or did you not actually watch the game and didn't realize the 4th line wasn't really all that different? Bonino was on the third line.

I didn't see Parros OR Beleskey take Jackman on for what he was doing to Perry. Either is capable.

Also, BB said he thinks a team needs 4 lines capable of scoring. There's less than no chance he'll be assembling 2 lines with no offensive talent, so you probably shouldn't waste your breath complaining, the answer is never as long as they can't chip in offensively as well.

About the first time this season I haven't been that annoyed by a Ducks loss, thought the team played pretty well. Oshie's EN had to be the luckiest one I've seen in some time

Was surprised how quiet the St Louis crowd was as well

As a player, I would get so tired of him talking like this after games. He really needs to shut the F up and PLAY BETTER!

As a goaltender, I'd get so frustrated of playing every night behind one of the weakest defense in the league. Just sayin'..

It's not all on Hiller folks, you can be a good team despite a mediocre goalie, look at Chicago, Vancouver, Philly...
He's still over .900, what isn't far away from the career records of Osgood, Khabibulin etc.
He hasn't played good enough to critisize them, but defending this defense seems very weird.

I am not defending the defense. They are not playing well but Hiller needs to keep his mouth shut and worry about himself. That game is completely different last night if he doesn't let in the soft goal. He is letting in a soft goal almost every game. He is not playing well and is now prone to blaming others when he should look in the mirror.

If Anaheim tried Jacques on the third line he would see quite a different player....He needs to play more than 10 minutes to be effective...If Anaheim has not confidence to use Jacques, please trade him now...

He needs to earn it. New coaching staff, everyone starts with a clean sheet, it's on him now.

Has a decent chance with DSP going to the WJC I'd think.

Bonino adds scoring? Can you provide his nhl stats please I forgot how amazing they were.
Its proven time after time how much better this team plays when they have hard nosed players in addition to skill I know its hard for you to grasp as any failed
prospect > toughness on these boards

Nice job ignoring my questions as to how exactly a 4th line with Beleskey and Parros was inferior to one with JFJ and Parros - are you now saying Beleskey isn't tough after saying he was tough and a hitter? Or are you saying JFJ is a better hockey player?

And you are confusing me with someone else as far as toughness is concerned - I was the first one to say during preseason that JFJ should be the 4th line left wing. Unlike you, however, I don't think tough guys unable to make any other NHL roster >>>>> anyone scoring at less than PPG.

As far as Bonino, I was repeating what Boudreau said. You don't like it, take it up with him.

Quote:
Were looking for scoring on the third and fourth lines, Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. I think in todays game, you need four lines that can score. Bonino, from what I gathered, when hes been up, hes been on the fourth line and hes an offensive guy. Weve got to give him an opportunity to show what he can do.

i think Dirk right i say it better to have a 3rd/4th line made up of guys who can do at least one thing great/good like Hitting or just shutdown guys instead of trying to play failed top6 guys down there on the hope they can change they games and become grinders

Yeah but the thing is Osgood and (especially) Khabs are old as balls and played some of their career in the early 90s when players would score into the 80s as far as goals go. Waaaaay more GPG than you see now. That was a different era in both equipment and playing styles (see: trap).

Khabibulin was a rookie in 94-95 and Osgood was a rookie in 93-94. No one scored 80 goals. Actually the highest after Selanne and Mogilny scored 76 in 92-93 were Lemieux 69 goals in 95-96 and Ovechkin 65 goals in 07-08.

League scoring:

93-94 6.48
94-95 5.97
95-96 6.29
96-97 5.83
97-98 5.28
98-99 5.27
99-00 5.49
---------------
05-06 6.17
06-07 5.89
07-08 5.57
08-09 5.83
09-10 5.68
10-11 5.59
11-12 5.59

There were way too many turnovers in this game.

Also, does anybody know if they're still tracking EN goals against. It seems like we're on pace to break whatever the record amount allowed is.

Wow, Colorado has let in 8. I thought we had more than 5 but it might just be recently where we seem to let one in every time we pull Hiller.
