They're too streaky. They're either unbeatable or can't win, and when they're losing it's mainly because they can't hit with men in scoring position. At least that's what I've noticed so far. I think Washington might take the division, though. They look amazing right now.

If you want more proof that wins are a bad stat to indicate how well a pitcher performs, look no furthe than today. Delgado goes deep and pitches incredible ball but gets saddled with the loss.

Of course wins is a bad stat. Delgado pitched well, as did Chen. Someone had to lose, unfortunately.

Agreed. Chen had a hell of a day. Makes me even more upset the last time we went overseas like that we got Kenshin Kawakami.

Sox-Yanks tonight. Time to start the climb back to first in the AL East.

Lets go Sox!

Every win is needed for every team at this point in the season. Happy the Sox were actually able to take a series against the Yanks. Still have to keep pushing along like Thomas the train however. Baseball truly is a unique and individual sport compared to the others.

Funny, but totally stupid. Umpires should only be worried about the players and managers. Ejecting sound guys and mascots is just absurd.

Heartbreaker for the jays in 15th inning. 6 straight Losses now, quickly falling out of the wildcard race

http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/...getz-called-up

Local kid Steve Geltz gets called up to LAA. He's my age. I played against him a few times in Midget ball and high school. He was throwing 90 mph in 10th grade. I don't think I ever got a base hit off him.

Anyway, I hope he does well. Apparently he's been tearing it up in Double-A.

I just realized that, as of today, the Braves are the 4th best team in baseball, and in all likelihood they're going to have a to play a 1-game wild card playoff. That kind of sucks.

Went to the game tonight with my Dodgers fan wife of 1 month. It was pretty great. A Chipper HR in the first and a walk off single by Francisco in the 11th.

Of course, Washington had to go win again.

Baseball salaries are really REALLY starting to gross me out. I like Starlin Castro but for a SS hitting .279 with 12HR to get $60m over 7 years is disgusting. 8.5 for that? /gag

Baseball is unlike any other sport in both the facet of the game and other everyday factors. For that reason I just leave it alone and let it be.

Starlin has high potential IMO he will be a 300 hitter and that contract will look good compared to a lot of baseball contracts

I don't care what his potential is, he doesn't deserve nearly $9m a year. Who, in the NHL, gets that much? Castro isn't even in the top 10 of SS in the game.

It doesn't make much sense to compare it to hockey salaries.
