Got home in time to catch the ninth. Awesome. Great to see Chipper so pumped.

And Kimbrel and Venters continue to be automatic.

So far, so good. Just got to hope that Fredi actually learned his lesson from last year. It appears that he has so far.

Great series win against a hot home team like LA. I'm still shocked that they aren't picking up pieces of Guerra's jaw from the mound. I thought McCann had killed him.

If our offense can produce to its capabilities, there should be plenty of opportunities for Fredi to use Durbin, Livan, Martinez and temporarily Gearrin in games that aren't as close. We just played so many games that were close last year and Fredi refused to use anyone else but the Untouchables. I think he'll actually use Medlen now if need be instead of overusing those three. We'll have to see, can't make any assumptions with the Frediot.

The Orioles seem to rotate what team they hold over in the AL East. A few years ago they were 13-6 (I think) against the Yanks and the year after they clobbered the Red Sox. Then last year they killed the Red Sox season. Very strange. Hopefully Bautista gets on a hot run, to be where they are (10-8) with him being mediocre isn't bad. Plus my fantasy team could use it

What a crazy game between the Mets and the Rockies right now. First the Rockies put up 11 runs in the 5th inning, and now the Mets' Scott Hairston has hit for the cycle!

13-9 Rockies, Top 6.

Oh, and screw you, Larry.

Braves take care of business against good ol' AJ Burnett and the Pirates at home. Medlen snagged a 3-inning save. McCann left the game early with a strained rib cage muscle. Thankfully, they're saying it's only day-to-day.

Sounds like a good game. I'll probably turn it on after the Preds-Coyotes game is over.

Toronto usually has Baltimore's number, too--well, most teams do, but the Jays to a greater degree. The O's aren't terrible this year. 78 or so wins would be a step in the right direction. If they can re-sign Jones, they may not be half bad once they can get Roberts' corpse of the roster and the Machado/Bundy begins.

Love my Orioles this year!

Also, I am never letting Chipper retire. Never.

****ing finally, Braves.

That was the most insane game of the year in the league so far! Braves win 15-13 on Chipper's walk-off. Can someone get him bionic legs?

Chad Durbin got the win tonight. I repeat, Chad Durbin got the win tonight.

There's just something about Chipper that not many ballplayers ever will have.

It's that, "Yes he 40, but he can still take you yard at any time" kind of persona. And dammit if we didn't just see it.

His reaction to the real home run after the long foul, priceless.

Wow, Mariano Rivera tore his ACL.

I hate the Yankees, but Rivera's a class act and the greatest closer of all time. It's terrible to see a legend go out like that.

Braves get the sweep at Coors Field. Beachy had a very impressive start, especially since every starter in this series got knocked around. Did anyone hear about Jamie Moyer accusing Chipper of stealing signs from 2nd base? I guess Moyer didn't get enough fiber in his diet yesterday.

In other news, Bryce Harper just stole home. Break-up the Beltway teams.

EDIT: Almost forgot that Pujols finally got his first home run today. It's about damn time.

Indeed.

I started watching the game on StreamTorrent around the 8th inning. Very entertaining game.

Got to love Chris Davis on the mound, throwing in the low 90s no problem.

Chipper's comments ripping Moyer were amazing.

I don't know why pitchers moan about that. If a guy is on second, he's going to steal signs. Nobody should ever complain about that.

Agreed. Chipper wasn't even doing anything though. All he was doing was talking with Tulo.

Quote:
“What incenses me is that I’m having a conversation with the shortstop [Colorado’s Troy Tulowitzki], not paying attention to [Moyer], and I get accused basically of cheating,” Jones said Sunday morning, before the series finale. “And that’s wrong. I’ve never accused him of doctoring a baseball or out-milligramming somebody.

“That just doesn’t make sense – it’s a 6-2 ballgame and a 3-0 count. My hitter is taking no matter what in that situation. Because we play the game right. And he thinks I’m giving signs? He’s paranoid.”

When approached by two Atlanta reporters Sunday in the Rockies clubhouse and asked about the incident, Moyer said, “I’ve got no comment.”

Well, Jones had plenty.

At one point, he rose from his seat in the visitor’s clubhouse Sunday to demonstrate.

“I literally am standing on second base and I’m talking to Tulo, and I turn around and [Moyer] is coming set,” he said. “So I get ready and take my lead, and [Moyer] goes, ‘I see you.’ And I go, what the [bleep] do you see? What the [bleep] are you talking about?’ I go, ‘I was [bleeping] talking to your shortstop. And he said something else with his back turned, like he yelled but didn’t face me. I go, that’s [bleeping] B.S. And I turned around to Tulo and Tulo’s like [holds hands up].”

Tulowitzki was asked Sunday about the incident.

“Moyer said something,” the shortstop said. “I think exactly how Chipper said it is how it happened. I think Moyer accused him of giving locations. All I can tell you is that Chipper and I were just talking, and I didn’t get any sense that he was relaying anything. No one knows the truth. You can look at it from both sides. On Moyer’s side, who’s going to say, ‘Yeah, I was giving locations’?

“So yeah, you can see both sides. But for me, [Jones] wasn’t doing anything.”

Tulowitzki also said he understood why Jones would be upset.

“Put yourself in his shoes – if you’re accused of something and you know you didn’t do it, you’re going to be fired up,” he said.

When Moyer came up to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning, Jones said the pitcher stepped out of the batter’s box and had a message for Braves catcher McCann.

“What really kind of gets under my skin is the fact that he told Mac, ‘That’s how people get hurt,’” Jones said.

Jones said Moyer’s comment to McCann upset him. Later on the field he spoke to Rockies first baseman Todd Helton and Tulowitzki about it “because [Moyer] was already out of the game by then, after those 900-foot homers with nobody on base – I said he could meet me in the tunnel and discuss it if [he would] like, and I never heard back.

“I don’t know what he was thinking. I’ve never relayed a sign from second in my entire career. And Tulo said his signs are so complex that NASA couldn’t steal them.”

The NASA comment Tulo apparently made gave me a good chuckle.

You just gotta love everything about Chipper. He says whats on his mind and he plays the game right. This team is really going to miss him when he leaves.

As for Tulo, I think that's as close as he can come to saying "He didn't do anything and Moyer is wrong" without actually saying it and fracturing the clubhouse. It was nice to see him take Chipper's side.

Didn't know Moyer said something to Brian. That's low.
