I had a strong feeling they'd get Leino for that one and sure enough, he's got a hearing today. Leino's the farthest thing from a dirty player and he's usually quite soft but I'm not defending him, as it was an elbow to the head, exactly the type of hit the League is trying to get rid of. To me it didn't even look like he got him, maybe barely brushed him. There wasn't enough force to even knock Read down, so Leino certainly didn't hit him hard. There wasn't an injury on the play so that's a positive.
I still think Leino will have to sit for a game or two unfortunately. He and Boyes (suspended in preseason) are not dirty players at all, but these days it doesn't matter who you are, if you do something wrong you're going to sit for it.
Disappointed if there is no hearing for Bourdon. I don't think that hit warrants a huge deal to be made, but it still was a clear hit from behind right into the numbers, another type of hit the League wants to see gone, and Gerbe was injured on the play.
I'd like to see Tropp or Kassian or (if healthy) Gaustad or Kaleta have a little talk with Bourdon near center ice the next time they play.
Any of them would do. As we saw last night, Tropp showed that he can more than hold his own, against an opponent like Rinaldo who is no lightweight. Heck, maybe we'll win the next time we play the Flyers, since the next two games against them we'll be in their building and not our own.
Why must we only play the Flyers twice a year starting next year? There's too good a rivalry going even now in 11-12 between the two teams.
So no Gerbe and no Leino for their next game? Any chance Foligno gets a shot?
I was thinking/Hoping the same thing that is if Goose n Kaleta are still out. McCormich has already been ruled in though honestly anyone Foligno included is a better use of a roster spot than Ellis right now, love his heart but hes invisible on offense
