Kris Versteeg
Why didn't the Flyers try to keep him? He signed for $3.08 million in 2011.
Did they judge him entirely on his 27 game sample size (only 11 points over that span)?
Current stats:
Games Played: 26
Goals: 10
Assists: 18
Plus/minus: +14
And that's on the Panthers...

Did you just start watching the Flyers this year? Versteeg was flat out terrible for us last year. On top of that, we needed to clear cap space for that man in your avatar.

Did you miss the part of my post where I said:
"Did they judge him entirely on his 27 game sample size."
And I'm sure the Flyers could have got rid of someone else to clear cap space if necessary.

Who else in your opinion should they have moved? There is nobody on this roster right now i'd move to keep Versteeg.
And please don't say Carle. Like this team needs another forward on it anyways.

Personally, I thought it was a bit short sighted to ship him out that quickly

Him performing well in Florida doesn't mean he would have done so here, as well. Sure, he might've been a sleeper like Neal, but still, I don't really miss the guy.

Perhaps the organization was more eager to accumulate draft picks than keep him around. His bad season with us last year likely had a whole lot to do with playing through his sports hernia.

Yeah no thanks, Jagr has made Roo and Harts better, Versteeg hurt or not hurt I don't think he'd fit in here, plus he's in Florida it's a little easier playing in a market that's not Philly

There is a long history of players being let go/traded by the Flyers to become key players on other teams.
Versteeg and Lupul are just the two most recent names on the list.

Yea Lupul really tore it up for the Ducks after we traded him there.... There's a reason he has been bounced around the league.

Ideally, they wanted Versteeg to be with winger for Richards. That didn't happen, because he wasn't 100% when he was here.

Versteeg was already injured when he came here. But everyone ignored that.
When they brought Simmonds back, they obviously felt he could fit Versteeg's role at a lesser salary, but it hasn't gone that way so far.

He's a good player, but he wasn't going to get the ice time here and just didn't fit in. A player being good on one team doesn't always mean he'll be good on another. And as others have pointed out, keeping Versteeg would likely mean no Jagr.
