well, im disappointed in giving up the goal with 3 seconds to go, but in the end they did a heck of a job coming back from 3-0. unfortunately, the shootout wins are frustrating but considering the circumstances and the officiating, just take it and run i guess.
That's precisely how I look at it.
This level of play will not cut it come the stretch run. I want to "believe" that they will improve in certain areas of play as the season moves along; if they do not, they will not snag, nor deserve, a playoff birth.
Frankly, NJD and the Sens are fairly equivalent teams, IMO, and should be fighting it out for a playoff spot for months to come.
And, lastly, way I look at all these shootout wins is that yes, they are somewhat hollow. But were this the playoffs, NJD would still be on the ice, playing. And come April, I'll happily take my chances with "next goal wins," especially since the Devils are getting a LOT of experience playing together this young season in tight, one-goal 60+ minute games.
kovalchuk is on a 40g pace ever since his injury. he's starting to heat it up, and he's doing it while he's almost on a PPG pace.
so yeah suck on that Kovalchuk haters, the guy is going to put up the same amount of points as he did in Atlanta because he finally is playing with good linemates.
Not trolling but for rizzle, what the hell does Pete cover in practice? lol
id love to know that.....maybe we can request TG to give a rundown of EVERY single thing they do in practice from start to finish? im sure he would if we asked

I have a feeling we'll see an even better Kovy in the 2nd half than 2nd half Kovy of last season.

I like Kovalchuk and agree with you. But frankly, Kovy putting "up the same amount of points as he did in Atlanta," is hollow.
What matters is this: will he lead this team to the playoffs...and then do something once there?
That is what he paid to do. Not pad his stats for a bottom feeder, like he did in ATL for a decade.
Sure, scoring and leading are not mutually exclusive. But one without the other is pretty unimpressive.

I missed the first period, did Marty start and get pulled or just didn't start?
Ya but it was stupid move because a Devils player knocked him over letting the sens score. There was no difference in play so I don't get why Deboer would pull him. Its not like it was Marty during the Avs game. Marty wad completely fine and pulling goalies all the time like that is not the answer imo.
However, I am sure I will get you are bias and no nothing treatment but that's okay.
Edit: At least BG thought it was a dumb move and one person is all I need. lol

He still isn't quite up to the defensive standard he put up last season under Lemaire, but he is scoring again, and he is making a positive impact on the team now, which is great.
He needs to be taken off the PP point, but that's the coaching staff misusing him and setting him up to fail, and he can't be blamed because he can't handle the position.
Also early in the game cause I couldn't see the Devils battling back from this I was saying to myself ''Bye bye window to 8th place. Hello door to the basement, and hello to you Isles in the middle of the stairs''. Seriously we're in 10th, but the Isles are worrying me. They got a game less than us, and 5 points less.
We need a win against Montreal. Florida is too good, and Tampa Bay finally snapped a losing streak.
I also was thinking the whole time we were down ''Watch Gomez come off the IR, and not only snap his scoring drought, but get a hat trick''
Also why do the Devils only play good 3rd periods when they are losing?
