Maybe even some " Thank You Teemu " chants.

Trading Teemu to Anaheim for Kilger & Tverdovsky was an absolute joke & the worst trade in NHL history.
I always take solace in the fact Phoenix did not get him .... that would have hurt worse.

Heres what I would like to see on Saturday. I love Selanne - hes a hero afaic. I want him to get get a huge standing O when they introduce him - the loudest ovation of the season so far I hope. I'll probably even have a few tears in my eyes.

Then, once the puck drops and for the next 60 minutes of game time, I would love to see him get a good boo everytime he touches the puck. Thats right, I want him to have a little "wtf?" moment every time he gets a whiff. Job number one is for the Jets to get a playoff spot and anyone in a different jersey is the enemy. I want the sports guys on TSN and all the other networks to be all "I can't believe they booed Selanne!"

Sorry. We had our time with him and we'll get one more night next Saturday.
You speak the truth - Teemu himself said in his conference call Monday that he fondly remembered his time here in Winnipeg, but that he loves being a Duck. He will retire a Duck and maybe play for Finland, but I'm fairly certain that he would refuse a trade to any other NHL team.

This is going to suck for me personally. It's a Saturday game. For some reason CBC never shows Winnipeg Jets games here on Saturdays, and the game isn't on NHL Centre Ice either. They'd show a Maple Leafs Blue Jackets game before they'd show a Jets v. Ducks, or hell, even a Jets v. Oilers game would get booted in favour of an Ontario team.

I grew up in Winkler, and was never really into the Jets.

I never got to see a Jets 1.0 game. But I knew who Teemu was, I even won a framed and matted picture of him at the Morden corn and apple festival one year.

Had it on the wall of my bedroom in my parents house back in the day. They have since moved, and I know they packed it away somewhere, but they haven't been able to track it down yet, I would love to get it back for my house now.

I agree.

But one fact that several news outlets are failing to make clear is that the Winnipeg Jets organization never traded Teemu and never would have. The Phoenix owners at the time officially took over ownership in January of 1996 if memory serves me correctly. They even had Teemu do some promo ads for them. They are the ones who traded him, not the Jets.

Can't wait for this game. I want the Jets to win obviously, but it would be cool if Teemu potted a goal and ended up one of the stars of the game for some Teemu chants and cheering.

There should be a Video tribute for Teemu and nothing less. This is not just an ex player who played in our city. He shattered an NHL record that will always be remembered as doing it as a Winnipeg Jet. Teemu is by far the most beloved athlete to ever play in this province and was also one of the classiest. He speaks so highly of Winnipeg and our fans to this day. The way he was left packing in 1996 was unfair to him and deserves better. It won't matter anyway because the power of Winnipeg fans will make this right. There will be "Temuu" "We want Teemu" at least a few times. I also believe that the fans will stay after the game is over chant and wait until he comes back out regardless of being names one of the 3 stars.

No video tribute whatsoever. This is not a retirement game for him. I'll leave that for the Ducks to give him. My favorite player of all time but c'mon guys, he's theirs now.

Cheers and NO boos. That's my feeling.

Let's concentrate on the future, and our own stars-in-the-making!

I still remember the sight of Teemu Selanne at the airport, his Winnipeg Jets bag going down the conveyer belt. I think they showed it on That's Hockey.

The man is legend here. No doubt.

Of all the NHL records that are likely to never be broken (several Gretzky ones; Mosienko 3 in 21 seconds; etc), that 76 goals for a rookie - is that likely to ever be broken? I mean even if the game turns on it's ear in the next 20 years, I still can't see it ever happening again amazing!

They did it when Ryan Smyth came back to Edmonton. What does retirement have to do with paying tribute to the most popular player ever to play here. It would have been different if Anaheim played in Winnipeg before the 1.0 Jets left, but that did not happen.

Cmon fans, lets give him a memory he will never forget. We can do it on our own if TN dosnt.

A video tribute would just seem awkward to me. I think the Smyth situation is a little different; he is a guy who was with their organization for 12 years. Teemu has been a Duck longer than a Jet by far (12 years actually). TNSE is an organization trying to shed the old and go forward with the new, this young team is trying to find it's identity and fighting for a playoff spot, etc.

He will get a hearty standing O, maybe more than one, but something official would be awkward and I think a little deflating for our team. Kinda like openly pining for an ex-girlfriend that is now married, while your new girlfriend watches.

As nice as it would be, I'm agreeing that no video clip is necessary. You want to show your love for teemu? Give him a pre-game standing ovation like Montreal did for Koivu.

Describe your feelings if Teemu scores 1-0 goal. So he scores, but Jets go chasing by 1.

Is it something like... "YEAANOOOOOHH.. YEAH.. I MEAN.. NO..KINDA..What ever..."

QUE getting Leschyshyn and Dore is worse, IMO. Leschyshyn is fine, but just missing out on Modano and Linden having TWO attempts to Gelinas, Roenick, Brind A'mour, Selanne, ouch.

Awesome video. Saku has had pretty emotional moments at hockey. Returning from canser, WC gold and returning to Montreal as a Duck.
