Dwight Howard Thought It Was "Done Deal," Blames Magic Ownership

In the latest update to his story that the Magic had ended trade talks regarding Dwight Howard, Adrian Wojnarowski quotes a source saying that Howard told friends on Tuesday that he thought the trade sending him to New Jersey was a "done deal."

But 24 hours later, it was a dead deal, and Howard's impression was that "ownership killed it." Stefan Bondy tweets that Howard's theory "is in line with what I heard about Otis Smith's suppressed role."

According to Wojnarowski, Howard reiterated his trade demand on Tuesday, but "there's still a belief among Magic officials that a successful season could help them keep Howard for the long-term." Moreover, reports Ken Berger, the Magic owners don't want to see Howard in another team's uniform when they host the All-Star Game February 26.

Dave D'Alessandro blames the "AAU mentality," and believes Billy King should just build a winning team "systematically," which wouldn't be too hard given the Nets assets.

Baron Davis will sign with the Knicks. Do they realize there is only one ball for all those scorers and their D still sucks aside from Chandler?

Sacramento has claimed Outlaw.

I watched most of the 2nd half of the Heat-Magic game. I know it is just preseason but D12 played like he doesn't even give a rats ass anymore. I guess that is one way to force his trade....

They signed Bibby as well?

That guy was ****ing done last season already. Couldn't even hit open 3s anymore which was the sole reason Miami signed him.

Davis will actually be decent for the Knicks when he's healthy. There are two types of Baron Davis. The one that cares and the one that doesn't. Davis can tell the Knicks want him, and they'll be close enough to contending that he'll care. He'll be an effective player. Far from a star or anything like he may have once been. But he'll contribute. Far better than trotting Mike Bibby's corpse out there for anything more than 5-10 minutes in a game.

Only hope is that Brook heals by Feb. and Magic wait until the trade deadline in March. I still have hope Nets can get Howard.

But the Nets are going to suck so much more now. Sheldon Williams is going to start...

Not sure what to make of the above

Nets aren't going to be good. Hope they stay that way so there is no hype with the team moving to Brooklyn

Evan Roberts trying to find any good news about the Brook injury.. Hopefully the Magic want to wait til the deadline, and the Nets aren't that good, which makes the Net's draft pick a little more intriguing, with the potential of it being a lottery pick

Just bring back RJ and K-Mart (not til Feb/March) and make it enjoyable for the fans

I think what the NBA is doing today is pretty awesome. NHL should do this the day after Xmas.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't very few people really off from work the day after christmas (with the exception being of when it falls on a weekend like in this year's case)? I really don't know if it was really have much of an impact to have a similar post-holiday schedule

Dope ending to the Bulls/Lakers game. Bulls score last 7 to win. Deng with the crucial steal, Rose with the go-ahead basket, and Kobe blocked on the last shot.

I love the Knicks fans boasting on Facebook about beating the Celtics without Pierce.

Been saying all offseason that the Knicks guard play is going to kill them. I was almost proven right on opening day. With Pierce in the game, I think the Celtics win by 10.

Who's leading the Heat in shots last night? Not Wade, not Bosh, not James, none of the other starters. It is a damn rookie. Thanks Bulls and T'Wolves for trading us Norris Cole.
