Trading Spacek for Kaberle isnt the problem. that deal is fine.. I think Kaberle is more useful than Spacek for our powerplay.
Trading a soon to be UFA for a 4.25 million dollar player for the next 3 years is the problem.

Kaberle is going to be great for the team. Seriously, he will.

Well..hopefully he clicks with Subban on the PP and maybe rekindles some of his magic from a few seasons ago.

Still baffled by this move considering that Campoli is basically a younger bigger Kaberle.

Gomez and Markov are still injured. LOts of cap space and time to re-adjust.
And they just send back St-Denis to hamilton...

Kaberle's contract is a tough one to swallow though and i'm not sure he's much of a PP QB anymore, but I get why this did this.
BIG 4 points out of Carolina PP. And Carolina has had the most powerplays of the whole league. Yes, we've got our PP QB. Where's the research? But hey, Carolina was 26th on the PP....so that's an upgrade....
The really bad Weber has 6 points on the PP....
As far as the salary, hey it's not a problem. We take everybody's bad contracts......How's Wade Redden doing?

I'd like to reserve judgement until I see him in a habs uni but seeing what he has done since he left Toronto has filled me with ZERO confidence that he will turn it around. This looks like a terrible deal right now we get saddled with another bad contract for a soft player who refuses to shoot the puck on the powerplay. I would have rather offered a deal to McCabe for 1 year than this move

I would take MAB 10 times over Kaberle.

Both could very well be finished.
If this was 3 years ago, that could be an awesome defense.

This move means that PG is getting desperate and trying to save his job by all means necessary!! Fire him before he does something even more stupid!

Spacek is better than Kaberle IMO...just look at the stats Kaberle is on pace for 24 points season

Holy ****. WHo in their right mind trades for Kaberle at this stage? That contract is dubious and Kabs performance since coming to Boston last season has been sub-par (and not improved since moving to Carolina). When the GM that signed him badmouths him two months into the season...you know things are bad.
All that said, he'll probably be another Bruins' killer.

So you were willing to take on a 4+ million dollar cap hit for Kaberle for multiple years but not one for the Wiz. Go back to bed Gauthier/Gainey!!!

Lateral move at best...trading one turkey neck for a bigger turkey neck.
Seriously, Gauthier needs to be canned...horrendous cap management move.
