The strangest thing to me is how much Kaberle's value has absolutely PLUMMETED since he left Toronto. He went from high value prospects and a 1st....to Jaro Spacek. Frightening.
I'm thinking in 4 months you might see it differently! The habs got hosed

I don't know what's more sad: Bruins trading a top prospect & a second for a rental, or Montreal trading only Spacek, but having to absorb Kaberle's 4+ million for the next 2 years or so (assuming he continues to drop).

What's sad is that some people still think Colborne is a top prospect.

Kaberle did more with the Bruins in 4 months than he did his entire career in two different cities and likely now three

At this point of his career he probably doesn't have any motivation left. He'll fit right in with losers like Gionta, Gomez and Gill.

If I could afford to go to a habs/B's game (which I can't). I would cheer him for helping us win the SC.

They took a risk, I wouldn't call it getting hosed. They needed to take a risk though, because this current squad as constructed wasn't making the playoffs. Funny thing is, they traded Spacek and somehow got softer.

The worst part of this deal for Montreal is the contract swap. They have two absolute albatrosses on that team now. I honestly think Kaberle has a decent shot at fitting in with Montreal though. They have tons of speed up front, but nobody to distribute the puck.

I can see it going either way for them.

He'll be a top 6 forward.

Also, I forgot to include bruins first round pick (their pick) in the deal. I guess everything's "erased" since we won the stanley cup.

Don't know why you threw Gill in there.

Gill is a good D'man if used correctly, and
he is still decent while the other 2 players you mention are not.

I suppose you have a big hate for Gill, because he is so big,
but not as mean as Chara.

Just another Bruins reject going to the Montreal Canadiens. He can compare notes with Hal Gill. "Wow, I could be on a contending team. Instead this".

Pretty much.

I still go back to Mont. traded a second to i think the islanders for Wisnieski(sp) and wish we had made that deal instead, but with the cup, i dont much care really.

Typical HF post.

A team makes a trade that helps them win a Stanley Cup, but they gave up prospects to do it, so therefore it's a bad trade.

Bahahaha.

Wow. I know the Habs are short on D but damn. Didnt they learn anything from us? Guy is terrrrrrrrrible. But damn. He got his ring. He's got his money. He's laughing all the way to the bank.

Ah well. Sucks for them.

Oh. Someone mentioned my Colborne...ahem. I'll say this. If we didnt win the cup, its a terrible trade. We won the cup so everything is okay. Colborne is a top 6 forward. He's going to be a great player. Sad he has so many haters but whatever it is what it is. Everything else is gravy. Knight, Spooner, Koko, Dougie...we're all set. I miss Colborne but we're stacked.

Not sure why MTL does this trade. I know Markov is not coming back any time soon and they're looking for some help with a PMD, but I think this trade just made them a lot worse.

Yeah, definitely odd thinking by Montreal's GM. I understand that they may realize Kaberle didn't fit in with Boston's style of play, but Carolina is more a speed/transition team like Montreal, and he didn't fare well there either....

If you pair him up with a solid defensive partner, he may look better. But as Pie mentioned, the general consensus on the Habs board is WTF??!!!
