Phaneuf just isn't very good.

Yes, you can make the big saves or possibly not swipe the puck into your own net.

It's coaching, though, nothing else. The PP is doing better and we're winning games because we have some good clicking offensive lines and some goaltending, but IMO it's clear we don't have the discipline behind the bench.
I've been all over Wilson in the past but in this case, hockey IQ has to come into play. Naturally someone on the Leafs should've thought "well there's two guys in the corner I guess I should stay back and cover"

I still cant believe Wilson started Reimer instead of Gus even though he was in net in a 7-1 win.

20/20 hindsight is easy but we had a goaltender playing lights out unstoppable and one coming back from an extended head injury. Can't say what I would have done but Wilson showing the Midas touch once again.

How many assists did Gustavsson get in that game?

7 goals for, different Capital team or a different Leafs team?

Keon was considered one of the fastest skaters in the NHL, and one of the best defensive forwards of his era.[3] He would usually play against the opposing team's top centre, and developed a reputation for neutralizing some of the league's top scorers. In 197071, he scored eight shorthanded goals, setting an NHL record.

The whistle didn't go.

Semin was playing hockey.

So I'm assuming that Crabb should be in Wilson's doghouse for the 3rd period. That penalty was incredibly stupid.

So true, 5 on 3 and all 3 guys in the corner. And everybody who knew the Caps would come out with the puck regardless, put up your hand.

Paul Rinehart was the best of those four Kitchener players.

yup. 3 years of Wilson being here with the worst pk in the league. Even after changing players every year like Burke thought.

That is expecting too much from Wilson. If anything he'd be right back on the ice after the PP is done.

Lmao this board is so bi-polar

1 month ago people would eat Gustavsson alive and jump inside Reimer's ass

now it's the exact opposite

more like common sense on the players part, if two players are battling for the puck on the boards on a 5 on 3 you dont need a coach to tell you to stay infront of the net rather than go join them

I'd agree with you if it looked like a group of players simply performing poorly, but it's clear these guys just have no idea what they're supposed to be doing. They have tried a number of different PK systems this year and none of them have worked.

And I disagree with the idea that Phaneuf isn't good. He's had an excellent game tonight, and he's been solid all year.

That boarding call was rough. I didn't like the slashing call either, but I could understand it.
