I am a little biased however, here are some of my all time favourites out of the west.
1) Trail Smoke Eaters
2) Kimberley Dynamiters
3) Portland Buckaroos
4) Quesnel Kangaroos

Interesting that the team names everyone loves are non-NHL teams.

As a kid, always wondered why would a team call themselves as "Whalers".

Now I love the name.

Just look at my avatar, funniest hockey name ever. Their slogan was:

"No spectators, just witnesses."

Does it get any better than that?

Jack Carlson couldn't be in the movie as Jack Hanson because he was playing with Minnesota during part of the shooting schedule. Dave "Killer" Hanson played Jack Hanson instead of the character based on him, Dave "Killer" Carlson.

Simon Gamache followed up his Memorial Cup run with a stint in the ECHL with the Greenville Grrrowl.

Against teams like the Columbus Cottonmouths, Pee Dee Pride and Lexington Men O'War.

Incredible.
