GUY BOUCHER:
Quote:
  • "It's not the best players that win, it's the best team, so we have to be a better team. We will never be able to put on the ice what Marty gives us. That's the big mistake when you lose guys. You try to compensate for what they are. Instead of trying to find what Marty has, I'm trying to find parts of Marty. I don't want one guy. I want a team that figures out we need to do this or that and stick together."
Quote:
  • "You have to be who you are, but just make sure you put your best on the ice to make sure we make the best team possible. It all comes back on structure, team character and having a survival mode.'''
STEVEN STAMKOS:
Quote:
  • "We just showed a lot of character, we stuck with it and played a lot better defensively which we haven't been doing. Now, without one of our top offensive guys, we are going to have to step up even more (defensively). It's not about producing more offense because Marty is gone, it's about making sure we are better defensively. We showed that (Friday) and we got the win.''

LET'S GO BOLTS!

The Flyers should trade for all the "Staal" brothers. Would fit them perfectly.

Do you think they'd let us set up for the faceoff in that formation?

Actually, if you figure you're going to lose the draw, that's not a terrible idea. It'd absolutely neutralize any speed the other team has if they try something aggressive right off the draw, as they wouldn't get enough steam to push the '3' back from the blueline. (unless they win it forward, but then the high '1' should be able to catch it)

The risk is that you win the draw, and start to expose the other team to how a 1-3-1 breaks out.

Even if the Lightning completely avoid the 1-3-1, the Flyers are going to be called hypocrites as soon as they aren't aggro on the forecheck. It may not even be a game with the Lightning, but at some point, the Flyers will want to utilize a neutral zone forecheck, and their hypocrisy will be called out.

I don't see a way that we win this game. Then again, I'm not a hockey player or coach and I'd enjoy very much if the Bolts showed me how it's done tonight.

Go into the 0-4-1, why waste a forechecker on them

Seriously let's go right into the 1-3-1 if they want to hold onto the puck and jeopardize their chance of winning the game by not getting any SOG that's on them...

That being said, I know that Philly will want to give their fans something to cheer for and they wouldn't dare do that at home...IMO

seriously need to think about changing. I mean, if the 1-3-1 is so awesome, why is Tampa 12-14?

Well, we haven't been using 1-3-1 that much since the Flyers game, because following that game, coaches started getting their teams to bypass the whole thing by counterattacking quickly enough that it couldn't get set up.

There's no special properties to any forechecking system, it's the players who make it what it is.

I'm expecting a chippy game tonight. Hopefully the league doesn't put Art Skov on this one.

If they want to sit there and pout in front of their home fans (Philly fans to boot) then be our guest.

If Systems were all that mattered in hockey the best coached teams would go 82-0 and the worst 0-82.

PHI gets the last line change at home right? So say we send out our line 1st, then they put who they want 2nd. We don't like the match ups, so instead of face off, we keep switching lines every time they do until we get the line matches we want. We won't play until things are how we want, is that how it works Laviolette ?

EDIT: I am not expecting to win tonight. Beating them last time with all the **** talking on VS was very satisfying though

go trolling to other place.

People love to talk without having a clue... like if we used the 1-3-1 during every minute of every period of every game of the season

Uhh this makes absolutely no sense. Last change means last change. Once the home team puts their line out after the away team the away team can't change lines until the puck is dropped.

There's still a box on my screen that says the game is blacked out and that it is also not available on any other channels. sorry.

Good thing we have an internet stream.
