I'd love for an HD Collection of X, X-2, and XII. I didn't hate X-2 (wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as people say) and XII was awesome. XII was much better than X because Tidus was annoying as hell. I hope they got a new voice actor for Tidus for the HD version.
Yes! I thought I was the only one who prefered XII to X...I couldn't stand Tidus
Anyway, I'd have to rate the non-online ones I've played (in other words from IV onwards - excluding X-2 - as follows:
VIII is up there for me. X is good but it's a little overrated imo. Game becomes way too easy once you get weapons that can break damage limit. I also loved Tactics. Kinda wished they would make a less kid-ish sequel for the big consoles. A2 was fun but it wasn't nearly as complex as the original.
Well VIII is my favourite so we definitely don't agree there lol
I might have gotten to disc 3 on FFVIII before the junction system just got overbearing and the story/characters weren't enough to drive me through it. (I really don't remember, it was quite a few years ago
It certainly could jump a few spots if they manage to fix the interface in any remake. I don't specifically remember the problem, but it was something like far too much maintence every time you wanted to switch equipment or spells or something.

VIII was my first and will probably stay my favorite. I like XII and XIII (after the first 25 hours of linear play) as well.
Just got a Vita so I have the PSP re-make of Tactics free from PS+...will get the other PS1 FF classics at some point even though I still own all of the PS1 physical games I could play on PS3.
Grad school interfering with what's really important
I liked 8 as well, but the magic system was legitimately bad. Having to draw spells to stock up, and not being able to use the good ones because you were better off having them junctioned to your characters.
Also, did anyone else just not know about the magic lamp you get from Cid early on? I didn't* bother trying to use it until near the end of the game, and Diablo scaled with your level.. he was a monster if you didn't beat him early.

First time through the game drawing magic was a pain but once you learned what abilities to get from your gf's to make magic out of items it became a lot less time consuming. First time through I hardly drew any magic in the first 2 discs to be honest.

Diabolos is blindable, no matter what the level. He cannot kill a character while blinded as long as they are above 1 hp because his physical attacks miss and all the rest of his damage is % based.
As for my order for favorite FF (based upon gameplay and story) to least favorite:

That actully looked cool. FF13 was still a meh compared to previous games and i have yet played 13-2. Hopefully the next installent (Not counting versus) loses the sci fi elements a little. As the ff geek i have been since forever i guess its time that i picked up 13-2.... but i just cant take the dissopointment

That's basically what 14 is doing. Will be interesting to see what XV ends up being in the end whenever it actually comes out.
Loved VI VII VIII IX X XI (online) XII and am hoping that XIV (online) will be salvaged with the new re-release.
Didn't play before VI and didn't like X-2 or XIII. Favorites were VII, VIII and XI (online). FFXI was the only MMO I ever played, but I loved it and stuck with it for like 6 straight years. I've tried going back a few times, but it's harder to just jump back into now-a-days. I tried XIV at release, but it was a mess. Hoping the re-release of XIV will be worth playing.
The issue I have with VIII is the characters, everything else I absolutely love (the world, junction system, card game, music)
I think 8's characters are better written than 7. Only bad thing about 8 in my eyes is that Ultimecia needed more foreshadowing/come into the game earlier. Oh, and I wasn't entirely happy with the monster leveling system.

Yeah I actually agree with all of this. I personally didn't mind the scaling but I usually prefer no scaling.
