I'd prefer Frk or Aberg over Gaunce.

I think Frk's injury might hold him back a bit, same with players like Rielly and Galchenyuk, right now I don't think (based on stats), that Frk is on the same level that he was last year, maybe because MacKinnon is injured.

Am I the only one who can see Columbus taking Grigorenko instead of Yakupov? I think his skill-set is something they need. And this is not me hoping that means Yakupov falls to us, as I doubt we even finish top 5 (unfortunately). Just...I think that if Columbus picks first, it won't be Yakupov going first overall...

Caps won't pick Reinhart. He have a very deep Defense prospect system, and a very shallow O.
If COL gets in the bottom 5 we're taking Forberg, Galchenyuk, or Grigorenko, depending on who's available.

I'd prefer Faksa over Maidens for the Leafs.

I'm amazed at how quickly Nick Ebert is dropping. Earlier this season he was in the top 5. I'm guessing he's going to drop to the second round. Something tells me Alex Galchenyuk is gonna drop also since he wont play until the end of the season. Morgan Rielly is trending up, watch him.

Yakupov could be a Superstar in the NHL and he could do it right away, that's what Grigorenko is missing. Nail is just better Offensively and that's what stands out.

I doubt Nashville picks a defender that high. Especially with Josi, Blum and Ellis.

If Phoenix landed Aberg at #15 I'd be ecstatic.

You are aware that Rielly is out with an injury as well?

1.CBJ - F Nail Yakupov
Need a d-man more, but way too talented to pass up. Should really revive their franchise.
2.AHM - D Ryan Murray
With a good young top line and prospects like Etem,Holland and Palmieri I think their top-6 is set with that. Fowler is great, but his defense isn't so great and they have a thin blue line. Ryan Murray should be an elite d-man who is good all around.
3.NYI - D Matt Dumba
With many good young forwards like Tavares,Grabner,Strome,Niederreiter etc.
4.CAR - F Mikhail Grigorenko
Skinner and Staal certainly need help and I think their defense is in better condition right now and Grigorenko gives great value.
5.TBL - D Morgan Rielly
With Stamkos leading the way and Connolly there I think they would draft a d-man here. Hedman is good, but is more defensive and Rielly will bring a lot of offense and steady defense as well.
6.WSH - D Cody Ceci
The rich get richer. With already 3 top forwards and Kunzetsov coming and Johansson I think they would benefit more with a d-man.
7.EDM- D Jacob Trouba
Great young forwards so they add to their defense with a top prospect this time.
8.CGY - F Alex Galchenyuk
They get very fortunate here and finally get their #1 center in Galchenyuk. He's not as good as Yakupov or Grigorenko offensively, but brings a two-way game which seperates him.
9.OTT - F Filip Forsberg
Another fortunate team here. They have a good young d-man core, so now they get a top forward prospect to add to Zibanejad,Puempel and Noesen.
10.WPG - D Griffin Reinhart
With a good set of young forwards in Kane,Burmistrov,Little,Ladd,Scheifele and Wheeler they should look to add a d-man. Enstrom and Byfuglien are good offensive d-man, but they could use another good all around d-man. Bogosian is good, but doesn't look like he'll live up to expectations when he was drafted. Reinhart is a big d-man who is mobile and is good on both ends.
11.LA - D Slater Koekoek
Surprisingly such a struggling team and picking here at this point. Doughty and Johnson need help and Koekoek can bring that.
12.MTL - F Pontus Aberg
A small and skilled forward is exactly what they like so i can see this pick happening. Aberg is definitely a wild card.
13.NJD - D Olli Maatta
Adam Larsson was a huge addition, but you need more than that. He brings a lot of offense and good defense too, but this would bring a lot more defense to the team.
14.BUF - D Derrick Pouliot
A great set of forwards, so I think they go with this good d-man. Doesn't bring a lot of defense, but does with offense.

I've never seen Ebert top 5 in any list other than amateurs. Some people said he had potential to go top 5 is the closest I have seen.

One issue I see is only 4 Euros in the top round. I just cannot see it being that low.

Overall pretty good. I think the trio of Ceci, Trouba and Reinhart may be a bit high. Then again Ceci is the only one I have seen this year, and his WJC showing may boost him.

I am not as high on Trouba. I'm a bit loath to take a kid in US HS over a proven CHL player such as Ceci.

And the rest of the D in this list could move all over the place.

I'm also sure Faska is to low.

Pretty sure Hampus Lindholm and/or Ludvig Bystrom will squeeze in to the first round, like Brodin and Klefbom did last year. They are as good as those two.

Caps have way more D depth than O depth.
Carlson, Alzner, Orlov. All under 23 and playing in the caps lineup.

Well he brings great value, but so does Murray. Their defense is in a lot worse shape than their offense. The big 3 are all great and still young and Holland and Etem should become 2nd liners for them. They really need defenseman. Fowler is great offensively, but no so much defensively, they need more than him.
Grigorenko would be a teams 1st line center and Getzlaf brings that already.
I also don't see Grigorenko's value being any more than Ryan Murray's. Elite forward vs Elite d-man. If Grigorenko was easily the BPA than maybe, but at that point he wouldn't be any more ahead than Ryan Murray as BPA.

It's hard to pick for them. They'll have 2 1st rounders anyways and will likely pick 1 forward and 1 d-man. Kuznetsov,Johansson along with their big 3 their offense is in very good shape now and in the future. Also Cody Ceci would have a better chance of being a top pairing d-man than a forward getting on the top line as Ovechkin,Backstrom and Semin are way too good despite their recent struggles.

Frk is the most overrated player in the draft. Said that last year when people though he would go 1st overall His skating holds him back way too much.

If I am Ottawa, I'd rather have Reilly, Aberg and maybe evern Pouliot who is critically low over Gaunce...

Great mock though!
