The Ups and Downs: Things to Remember

The Ottawa Senators have never lost only one game before winning the next. Each time we lose, at least one more lost is accompanied with it.

On only one occasion (Minnesota) have we not won in streaks of at least 2, picking up 2 pretty large winning streaks at two different times in the season.

________________

I think it's important to remember that, while we have been rather successful compared to what we expected, there is no doubt that we are still a team that's rebuilding, and losing streaks should be expected.

This team, while playing well for the most part, still has the potential to plummet. It's important that we realize that this team isn't a lock for anything, especially the playoffs.

The Senators could finish the year in last, for all we know. Injuries, slumps, etc, are to be expected.

________________

Why did I make this thread? To remind everyone that we are rebuilding. We're not Stanley Cup Contenders, we're an average at best team that's working well as a team, and exceeding the leagues expectations.

Cheers,

Manked

People like to whine about this team yet, from all "experts'" accounts, this team has exceeded expectations. As far as I'm concerned, this team isn't the problem, it's the fan's expectations.

I completely agree.

Yes, games like tonight have been frustrating to watch. But all in all the Sens have far exceeded my expectations! They are awesome!

Some day though, I do hope the streaky play goes away...
I can't remember if it was last season or the season before, but I recall a thread on general where it was 'what song best represents your team' - and my immediate thought (and still applies) was Katy Perry's 'Hot N Cold'.

Props to #71 tonight. Despite not being on the scoreboard, this is the type of game I love seeing from him. Kind of disappeared after that misconduct, but was pretty awesome up until then.

Foligno plastering people and Neil getting pumped up and getting physical sure made the game fun to watch though. Everytime they were on the ice i'd hope for a big hit

Agree totally, when i watch the three young defensemen play i know its only a matter of time before this team will start moving back up.The defense going through this baptisim of fire will serve these kids well. Not to mention this year of seasoning on the blueline should help the nice group of forwards we have coming next year

Missing Kuba and Gonchar is certainly not helping, and is frankly exposing our D as being too young without them. The positive thing to take away though is when they get older, our D will get better. I'm very happy with this year so far.

How about Peggy Lee's song "Is that all there is?"

Milan Michalek is the biggest up so far, having 18 goals and hopefully more goals coming.

The downside: powerplay and penalty kill, gosh darn it, The Senators really need to do well.
