*sigh* Frustrating loss to the Flames (especially a shutout). As previous posters have said, first 4 minutes looked good! After the 4 minute power play, it just collapsed!! Imo, not blaming this on the Nuge, but if he would have capitalized on that chance on the first power play, this would have been a completely different game!!! **** Feaster is probably stuffing his face Oiler-designed cupcakes (I heard for every Cgy-Edm won by Cgy) he gets a little bonus of 50 cupcakes....

Edit: WTF Hordichuk! We dressed you to fight!

I love Hemsky, but holy hell he has been bad. Tonight was probably the worst I've seen from him ever. For the love of ****, he lost a puck battle to that flimsy piece of **** Matt Stajan tonight.

The team slump can't be blamed on one player.. Hemsky is appearing like he doesn't want to be part of the team, but he is a really good player.. Now he's getting picked on by Renney and the media, where that might motivate some guys it's not having that effect on Hemsky.. Like someone mentioned on here in another thread, Hemsky is a quiet guy that keeps to himself so he's an easy target..

A lot of the team looked like they waved a white flag not just Hemsky

I would like to hear Renney call out Horcoff or Smyth when they have stretches of horrible.

Yup....the Oilers aren't even a threat to the the Flames at this point.

It doesn't say much about the Oilers but they're still a terrible hockey team and they'd get curb stomped by a lot of other teams tonight. They looked just as disinterested as the Oilers for the most part, they just managed to impose some of their physical will and the Oilers wilted.

In any which case, let the Flames make their annual 9th place run.

Remember the thread if Gagner fits on this team anymore. Gagner does fit as he's only 22. It Hemsky that doesn't fit and he seems to be pouting.

If we don't make playoffs, this year (getting very likely). I say we strip him of the captaincy. He practically set the tone of the game when he WHIFFED on the 2 on 1.

Great captain!

We win game on the backs of rookies

we lose games on the backs of rookies.

Sit the turd for the rest of the season for all I care. His ****ing NMC was the dumbest thing Lowe ever did in his life. Like, worst than Steve Smith scoring on himself bad.

Iginla pisses me off but he is 5 times the captain that Horcoff is.

See a game like this Iggy becomes the best player on the Flames whereas Horcoff....

ps. i wish Sutton would instead take a suspension to punch Iginla in the face. If you're gonna get suspended you might as well make it worthwhile.

The oiler players will probably make excuses like "oh we just didn't score on our chances" or "we took too many penalties" and crap like that. But we all know the real reason is that they can't compete against big teams that hit. The Flames have our number and that's depressing.

Tough veteran teams are a tough go for this team.

Renney had nothing to do with this loss.
Oilers don't match up well against any team in playoff position.

How the f did they beat the hawks 9-2?

The media's been on Hemsky for not caring, but I'm still more convinced that he's just not able to perform physically anymore.

Same things been happening to Whitney and Smyth and Horcoff.. but no one says it's because they don't care. They're just old and gimpy.

I'm sure he has, behind closed doors. It was mentioned by Rob Brown/Dan Tencer a couple weeks back that the players do say Renney gets upset and yells and calls people out....behind closed doors.

Like it or not, Renney, unlike Quinn, doesn't usually call people out in the media.

They Oilers were completely outmatched. The Flames are a much better team.

That was a very easy win for them.

Well the Book is out on the Oilers.

Play them Hard and physical.
Pressure them heavily during PK's Oilers wont do anything

This team is a bloody mess and the only person to blame is Tambo. But at this point were pretty much screwed for the season. No im not just talking about this game. Look at the losses and look how the teams played us its so easy to see yet for whatever reason nothing will be done.

Its been the same story year in and year out.

Just a sad sad team to watch

It's almost feels like by default we think we've lost these games or have too much respect against these guys.

It's embarrassing and needs to stop.

Heh, okay a MEDIOCRE hockey team destined for another 9th or 10th place finish. They made zero significant changes in the off season and continue to operate on a delusion ala the Oilers post-lockout. Who are they going to leapfrog, especially with Minnesota making strides?

All veterans. All alleged leaders in their respective positions, on this team. When the kids are struggling, you expect these guys to step in. Hemsky plays and competes when the spirit moves him. Gets frustrated easily, and off his game. If he's really hurting that much, why is he even playing then? Sorry, but I don't agree with Hemsky hiding another shoulder injury. His problem isn't that -- it's his lack of heart and consistent, competitive fire.
