Lee was our best defenceman to round out last year (arguably) and if he plays the way he played last night he is very valuable to the team. He's positionally sound, he plays hard and has shown a bit of a mean streak. His first pass is near flawless and when he's skating like he did last night he's useful at both ends of the ice even if he's not putting up points.
There's really no need to trade him unless we're getting something significant back.
No he wasn't, he played well but don't get carried away. Kuba, Gonchar & Phillips all had a terrible yr & Kuba & Gonchar were out with injuries. Karlsson & Carkner played better than Lee & Carkner was hurt. All Lee had to do was make sure he prevented goals against since he only played a defensive game, he has zero offense to his game. He played with Phillips which IMO helped Lee a lot, Lee & mean streak in the same sentence made me laugh.
There is no need to trade for him because he has no value, Murray has tried to trade him on at least two occassions & no takers. He is servicable, I`ll give you that but I won`t be surprised if this is his last yr in Ottawa.
