16 games (he's credited with 6 wins, and 5 losses), 382 saves, 2.46 GAA, 90,52%. Now I pulled these from the Finnish national broadcasting company YLE's teletext page, however, SM-liiga's officail site has him with a 2.52 GAA and a 90,31%, not sure which one is right, SM-liiga's official site has a reputation of messing up stuff.
Have you a link for me?
Rieder's linemates suck, that was probably his main problem.
But a t least a win, against not such a bad hockeycountry Belarus. :-)
So, because Reider is one of your favourites, when he doesn't get points it's because his linemates suck but when any of our other prospects have a tough game it's because they aren't as good as we thought.
The problem as I saw it for Abney was he kinda had a whole year where he really didn't throw them. He was a man in a boys league, but now he is a boy in a man's league. Hopefully he'll work hard this summer on gaining some mass and learning how to fight better.
If Steve Macintyre had to work on his fighting there is no reason why Abney shouldn't be following the same routine.
Abney has been doing ok int he fight department. He needs to work on his balance and of course gain some weight. The guy has a world class chin as he take a punch. It sounds like he is playing a pretty effective game physically as well and chipping in with the odd point. My guess is he plays in the AHL next year full time.

That is true. For his size, 205 isn't that big. Hopefully he can pack on a few pounds of muscle. I'm hoping he turns into a bigger Hordichuk. As much as people hate pests, they're great to have on your team. Even better when they can stand up for themselves
Edit: I see he got called up to OKC. Clearly he's doing something right.
He's a teenager fighting men. I wouldn't expect him to be doing great in his first year as a pro.
Exactly, he's also quite light for a heavy at the moment. He needs to be at least 220lbs. before he can start to match strength with bigger men. If he was already 6'4" 240lbs. or so, then I'd be worried.

Just to help this argument out.....
Derek Boogaard struggled early on with fights and nearly quit hockey. It can take time to figure it out. I'm not sure that Stortini ever could (seriously... hammerfists?). But Abney definitely is young enough to learn.
On another topic, I'm impressed with Brandon Davidson so far! I know he's 20, so his stats aren't quite as impressive as they appear due to experience, but even so they are still impressive. Martin Gernat is also quietly making a name for himself as one of our less touted high-end prospects. Looks like we've got some good future at D when you add Klefbom to that list too.
am i the only one who think adding their DOB to the stats would be a good idea?
Like Keller is 27--I was hoping he was younger
As I mentioned in the Barons thread - if he was 6 years younger he'd be an awesome prospect (one of the most skilled forwards we have down there). I'd say the same for Triston Grant... who'd you'd think was a knuckledragger, but has some skill and grit - at least for the AHL.
