Thanks for the link. Nice read.
Rieder plays a very good season.
Perhaps I wasn' so wrong that henis a steal in the 4th round and has a realistic chance of being a Top 9 forward in the NHL.
He's got a long way to go yet, when he starts being productive at the pro level then you can start to get ready to toot your own horn, until then he's just another high scoring but smallish player from junior.

No, he developed very good this season. As I thought he topped his first season clearly pointwise.
So he is already a very good pick in the 4th round at the moment.
If he will be a NHL player will be decided later.
Why you don't say something against people who say Pitlick, Marincin were great picks?
You have to learn lo be more straight in your posts/thinking.
I mean, you were a gigantic fan of J.F. Jacques and was sure he become a great NHL power forward. You were hyping him big time before he was a NHL player.
Where is that guy now?

He's far from proving that he can have even a JF Jacques level pro career. Also I never said that Jacques would be a great power forward so perhaps you should think before you type nonsense. As for the other players, it is far from decided whether they were great picks or not.
Dillon Simpson just scored his 1st goal of the season.
Pretty nice clapper from the point on the PP.
Yeah saw that goal. If he doesn't go to junior he's doomed. The level of play in that game just stinks if you ask me. I really think college hockey is about the worst way to develop there is for a player. Now obviously it's great for the kid to get the education but just from pure hockey development it sucks.

UND has one of the best hockey programs out there though.
Gives him plenty of time to bulk up and improve his skating.

He's not as small as some think. He's short at 5'11" but is listed at 190lb now on the OHL website.
It seems he has grown quite a bit in the last two years. He just turned 19 this month so he has time to get bigger. He could well end up playing at close to 200lbs. And the kid has a lot of fight in him. He's not afraid at all to go to the greasey places.

Still a crappy level of competition, 40 game season with hardly any travel, nothing remotely like what he will see at the next level. Riley Nash stagnated badly at cornell. Petry is 24 and just making a step after all those years in collge. College is just not a very good route for development in my opinion no matter how good the team is. Come into the pro game at 22 and then have to learn what it is really like to play a full step up and a much more brutal season.

That's because Riley Nash just isn't a good prospect. Not to mention, UND has produced about 6-7 times as many NHLers as Cornell.
I don't think you can really call the program a poor developmental route when it's produced players like Parise, Toews, Zajac, Stafford, Oshie, J. Blake, Greene or Commodore.

That's still below NHL average in size, not saying that it's an insurmountable disadvantage, however it isn't uncommon to see guys his size that tear up junior in their post draft years to not amount to much. The proof will be in the pro game IMO. That's where you see what you have in a player.
Gernat has been absolutely on fire since he came back from the WJC. He has 12 points in a 7 game point streak. Now up to 37 points in 39 games.
10th in WHL scoring for d-men (Davidson is 11th) but he's played 10 fewer games than almost everyone ahead of him. He's obviously benefiting from playing on a high scoring team, but his stat line is pretty damn impressive
39 GP 8G 29A 37P +30 (4th for +/- in entire WHL, 2nd on Oil Kings). Not a thing to not be thrilled about with his season so far.

Good stuff. So does that fall under Frank Musil? I think that he's still primarily the continental Europe guy.
I know that it's still early (Olli), but Marincin, Pelss, and Gernat look like very good picks for David's Pappy.
He had that hot start, too, then slowed down. Maybe next season he'll be more physically prepared for that many games and won't slow down.
That's what we thought about Marincin, but I believe that his offensive production is below last years. Either way it's great to see that these guys have some offensive pop to their games.

Marincins team lost Connelly though who had a lot to do with the scoring and it would be stupid for PG to be relying on a d man for offence alone.

Of course. But that is true of about 99% of the prospects out there.
Though for a kid that is more offensive minded, if he hits 200lb size will not be an issue especially on a 5"11 frame. That would be the exact same size as Crosby. And Crosby is as hard on the puck as just about any forward in the NHL. The question is how much strength does he have. Hard to tell right now.
Remeber that Rieder has already played against men. Of course it was only the German Bundesliga, but still he managed 10 goals and 23 points. The kid came to NA with a stellar rep and ended up in the middle of the line-up on a very good Ranger team.
Rieder has a fantastic attitude by all accounts and is driven to be an NHL'er. While he is obviously not a sure thing the kid is developing well on a team that has a very good record of producing pros.

I'll conceded that but I know at least toews only played there two years, not sure about the rest.

I'm not too worried about Marincins lower offensive stats. On one of the radio shows (might be the pipeline) they were interviwing someone from prince george when he was still there and they indicated that Marincin was really putting extra effort into the defensive side of things this year.
He was hired by Lowe, and has been around since at least 2008. He's been in the organization a long time, mostly as a pro scout overseas (but sometimes doing some amateur work)
