They're selling a pass to every playoff game for $99! A bit of risk, in the event that they get upset in 4 games, but a really good deal if they make a run!
They might start the playoffs against Marincin, Davidson, and the Regina Pats.
Thanks again for the updates! Would you say that Bigos has a mean streak in him? I've heard a bit about his talents and pros/cons, but I've always had a hard time picturing his full game as a player.
Definitely has a mean streak. He hits hard/often, and if it wasn't for NCAA rules, he would getting in a ton of fights. He is a lot bigger than most guys out there and much stronger than them. A Lowell winger tried to speed past him last night, and he gave him a shove sending him into the boards from the hash marks. He has some offensive talent, but I don't see it translating into much at the NHL level. If he makes it, I think it would be as a shutdown dman.
Didn't see the game (away game), but 2 assists for Bigos in a 2-2 tie. Another matching roughing penalty as well. Both assists on the PP. Don't know how well he played, but it doesn't sound like a bad game.
Hey guys, I've been lurking these boards for quite some time now and figured I'd might as well add to the discussion.
I was at the Giants/Tigers game last night and kept an eye on the two Oilers prospects. Medicine Hat picked up the 6-4 win while being pretty heavily outshot 39-19. I was running a bit late and missed half of the first.
By time I showed up, Bunz had allowed 3 goals on 11 shots and sadly, I can't comment on those. The goal I DID see him give up was a laser wrister that picked the glove side corner and beat him clean. I don't know if this is normal for him, but he was a real ornery little bugger and was physically involved in scrums all game. He picked up a couple penalties: one roughing call for feeding a guy shots to the back of the head while he was face down in the crease after a whistle, and a slashing call for a pretty good whack to shins. I should mention that the Giants were running him all night and took 3 goaltender interference penalties. Personally, I like to see that kind of fierce competitiveness from a goalie though the Vancouver fans clearly didn't agree judging from the booing and lame jokes about his last name.
Musil wasn't as noticeable and I suppose that's a good thing. One thing that did stand out was his size. He looked like the biggest guy on the ice because, well he WAS the biggest guy on the ice. He's listed as 6'4 203 on the WHL site, but that might be a bit conservative. The boy is thick. Anyway, he was played a tonne in all situations and moved the puck well on the PP (though Van went 0/8). Got caught on a bad pinch that led to a 2 on 1, but other than that he seemed a solid and calming presence. Ended up with no points and -1 but certainly didn't look like part of the problem.
Was listening to the pipeline show today and they were talking about Marincin and Davidson. They way they talked these two up it sounds like they will both be patrolling Edm's blueline in the next few years and not as a bottom pairing. Sounds like they both will be a legit second pairing for sure.
They stated that Davidson plays in all situations and is the team captain and is the true leader of the team.

I'd say we'll be lucky in Marincin is considered a top 4 D three to four years from now and if Davidson serves as a #6 - #7 he's outperformed most players in his draft area. I'm more skeptical about Davidson for sure.

I think Davidson needs a year or more in AHL, but I'm very high on him (after watching his short stint in the AHL) - much like Petry 2-3 years ago. He's a big mobile D-man in the same mold of Petry. In fact, I thought he was Petry.
Davidson will start in pros a few years younger than Petry so I expect he'll need 2+ AHL years before we can rely on him in the top-4. Next year we're kinda ****ed. Only Teubert graduates to the NHL potentially.
Seriously, Davidson is our 4th or 5th ranked D prospect. To have that quality and depth bodes well long-term.

Davidson and Marincin will need at least 2 yrs in the AHL. I am fine with that, we have to make sure we don't rush them and allow them to develop. Next year we can have Klefbom, Musil, Marincin, Davidson and Blaine all trying for the AHL on defense.
So you guys think Klefbom will come over next year.
Klefbom or Gernat could, I guess, develop into premier #1s... but I really don't see it. Even if they did and the Oilers concentrated on bringing in a young first-pairing defenceman either in FA or at the Draft, you suddenly have depth at what's been this team's weakest position for five years running.

Nitpick: Am I the only one who remembers 08/09?
The back-end was likely the only strength the team had that year, and Smid was developing, Petry was coming.
