I'm here at the oilkings game and right in front of me is an anaheim duck scout scouting the rebels. Most likely Dumba. Anyways, the game started slow, but the game has picked up in the 2nd

Rieder is really looking like a great draft pick. I've seen Kitchener play a few times, and Rieder isn't a terrific skater, but he is a very good finisher and doesn't play with a lot of fear either. Could be an NHL down the line if his skating can improve. He's right there at the top of CHL scorers with '93 birthdates. 40 goals in 57 games is impressive (even in the high scoring CHL).

Rieder's size and lack of speed lead me to believe he will struggle at higher levels of hockey. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't see him than anything more than career AHLer. Due to his crazy good stats at the junior level, he would be an ideal piece to include in a trade this off-season.

Much better game for Bigos in a 5-2 win. Showed much more composure and played sound defensively. He hit the post and got ejected in the middle of the third. He got slashed away from the play and retaliated. Didn't see much of it, but I don't think it was deserved.

I thought Rieder's strength was his skating. Could be wrong. Been following all Rangers highlights and he looks to be a very fast skater.

I was at the game as well. Pelss had a great goal. Sniped it right under the cross bar. Back to back Saturdays he's pulled that off.

Dumba also had a good game. A goal and an assist to go with just a strong overall game.

Petr Sykora maybe a decent comp for his ceiling.

BAMF

The retaliation scares me a bit from a 'Theo Peckham' perspective, but if he can continue to round his game out and work on his composure, I'll be happy.

Thanks as always for the updates

Have you seen him one time?

Rieder is a left shot right winger who combines speed and skill to be a constant threat and proved his speed at the 2011 Top Prospects Skills Competition when he placed second in the fastest skater competition at 14.068 seconds.

good to know. Rieder is an intriguing prospect. Would be fantastic if he develops into a 2nd line goalscoring RW.

In the 2011 top prospects game skills competition he finished second in the fastest skater category. I have no idea where this stuff about him being slow came from.

He's also not even that small. He is 5'11" and 190lbs. I saw him recently in a local shopping center signing autographs. He did not look to me like he would be too small to play pro and he is still young.

To go along with Rieders 2G, 2A +3 (40-41 +23 on the season)
Musil 2A, +1 (6-21 +11 on the season)
Pelss 1G (26-20 +34 on the season)
Gernat 1G, 1A, -1 (9-43 +39 on the season.)

Gee, the Oil could really use another one (smallish, goalscoring RW). Eberle, Hemsky, Omark.

Haven't seen Rieder play, but the description reminds me of a Micheal Grabner circa '10-'11 when he scored 6 SH goals.

Could be a useful player to have...

It comes from straight up, uninformed ignorance, which is why it's hard to filter the truly reliable info from the well meaning, but completely incorrect statements of opinion. That's great to see Rieder doing so well.

I'd say he plays with a lot more jam than Grabner though.

Paajarvi is quietly on a 5 game point streak. 3 goals and 7 points during the stretch.

It's great to see that Musil has some offensive production in him. At one time he was very highly touted, hopefully over the years he can harness some of those skills that had some scouts looking at him as a top 5 pick a couple of years ago. Pelss is an interesting player as well, it'll be nice to see what he's capable of in Stockton or OKC next year.

If he's speedy and dynamic what's the harm in that? If he becomes a top 6 NHLer there's no law that says that we'd have to keep him, if he becomes that player he could be a valuable trading chip. Not to mention he's probably at least a couple of years away so our team could look quite a bit different by then and his skill set could be of use to our big club.

20GP: 4G-13A-17PTS

not a bad stat line at all. Happy right now that he's been such a factor in the Barons games... even though the team itself is having problems closing out games. Hoping he gets a real long playoff run to amp up his play and push his development.

When did Hemsky and Omark become GOAL SCORING RW's?

How did Simpson look?

I just turned it on as Bemidji made it 4-2. Now 4-3. Crazy.
