Musil only has 16 points this year and the Giants are not as good as last year. I don't think he is a good pick
I know it is a joke comment from you, but yes, offensively it was more expected from Musil. He had better numbers even 2 years ago.
But if he becomes an effective shutdown D with solid skating and a good first pass it would be ok, too.
He has to work on some thing for sure. He isn't very fast for example.

I saw him play at Rexall a few times this year in the pre season.
Also on the internet for OKC.
I also follow the OKC twitter feeds and bloggers who are at each game at the CCC.
No, I played Center in hockey. And only as a kid.
Now I even get attacked when I write something positive about a prospect.
Well maybe it's just a language barrier but where I come from using the phrase "not bad" means noteworthy but nothing impressive. However a 36 save shutout performance to me is a damn solid effort/game.

Of course, a shutout with 36 saves is very good. Not bad was meant that way.
In german it's often said so.

Your one of those fans that get all caught up with the points. Take a look at how he plays the game, he is going to be a big body that knows how to skate and will have that first out let pass moving the puck out of our zone. That is what this team is laking.

I think you need to look at the context of Joe's post. I am pretty sure he was not suggesting that Musil should be judged by his offensive output.
Why are you all concerned about Musil's point production? His scouting report suggests that he is a shutdown defensive defenceman, somewhat in the same view as Smid. So long as he learns to not be a minus and how to sacrifice his body, that's all we should really be asking of from him.
Well, tonight was much better from Blain than what I saw in November in a 4-3 win over Saint John. Looked focused. No mistakes defensively today, played a physical game compared to last year. Still a bit lippy with the refs.
1 assist with a end to end pass that split the defense and found a streaking forward all alone at the blueline for a breakaway. Just launched him in 1-on-1, tape to tape.
I've liked what I've seen from Musil thus far. I hate to compare players to Canucks but he reminds me of a Bieksa or even the Willie Mitchell that played for the Canucks. Hell if he dishes out more hits he can even be in the mold of a Regehr.
College hockey starts back up again tomorrow for the second half.
Merrimack College has dropped down to 7th in the nation... still great, and mostly due to their unreal start. Merrimack is playing in the Ledyard National Bank Classic this weekend, which will consist of 2 games win or lose. Bigos stat line of 13gp 1-6-7 is fantastic for his style of play. He seems to have a little more offense than originaly thought. He reminds me of a bigger Ladislav Smid. Crash, bang, all team, shot blocker, PIM monster (in a good way)
and while merrimack has dropped in the standings, North Dakota is on their way up after a slow start. 18th overall after previously being unranked. They open up with back to backs against Harvard. Dillon Simpson is 0-7-7 in 18gp. Also not bad for him being a young sophmore, his production has increased as the team has found its stride.
Quinnipiac isnt ranked in the top 20, but has the most votes of any team not in the top 20, so they are "bubbling under". They open up with back to backs against Nebraska Omaha. Kellen Jones (5g, 9a, 14pts... 16gp) decent offensive numbers, his brothers are better (17pts in 17 games), and his overall game also would suit the Oil better, but i dont have either pegged as an NHLer.
With a big second half, I think both North Dakota and Merrimack could get into the national tourny. I still say Bigos is our best college prospect and one of the most underrated on this board. Simpson looks a hell of alot better now than he did between draft day and november.
Bunz has been on fire since he got cut from selection camp.
He's won all 5 games, posted a GAA of 1.60, a SV% of .938, and had one shutout.
He's been 1st star 3 of those 5 games and 2nd star for another.
Admittedly, the teams he's done this against haven't been the best, but those are very nice numbers and are contributing to an excellent season where he's 4th in GAA, 2nd in SV%, and tied for 1st in shutouts in the WHL.
Plante had more holes in his game than Musil at the same age. I remember his gap coverage was pretty rough and his lateral movement was terrible. IIRC, his outlet pass was criticized too.
