He had a harmlessly looking collision in our own end with Vermette (?), was slow to get up and never returned, replay showed his knee bending slightly unnaturally.

That doesn't sound good. Thanks.

The other thing is that I would've liked to have seen the B's keep Boris Valabik for such an occasion. Besides Hamilton I don't kow if they have anyone of size in the system.
Hamilton can't be called up unless 3 of our D go down. Even then he can only be here on an emergency basis and has to go back down as soon as 1 of the 3 D return.

I like it

If he's out a few games itll force the team to play tougher and not rely on Chara's monster presence for half the game

something given has no value

this team without chara is a bubble playoff team in my opinion.
if by some chance this turns out to be a sturm knee injury, we are in trouble.

it certainly looked the same as sturms in the 10 playoffs.

for chara to not finish a game is bothering me very much.

Yeah that's the only thing that has me worried too. It might not have been Chara's call to sit the rest of the game though.
I'd rather have him sit a few games and regain full health than play with a minor injury that might come back to haunt him later in the season.

Might be precaution as well. You know if something will remain the same or get worse with use. Probably figured let it rest and not make it worse.

I agree that this is a very real, and potentially positive, possibility. I dare not think of any others...

I don't "like" anything about our captain and borderline MVP being out due to injury.

This team is nowhere near as good without Chara,

Chara update:

"will most likely not be available" for at least next 3 games.

A scary thought, and if true, flies in the face of conventional wisdom, which trumpets the B's as a "deep" team.

Just hold him out till after Christmas if he comes back the 28th

he'll only miss 5 games and get 17 days to recover Spring time is more important

From the same article: "Or the Bruins could opt to keep Chara out of uniform until after Christmas to give his injury more time to heal."

Well, so far, this doesn't come close to my worst fears.

Sit him until the Panthers game on the 23rd. That will give him almost 2 full weeks. Our defense will be ugly to watch without him. I expect to see full on trap mode for the next few weeks. Hang in, go 3-2 and then pick up once Z returns.

From a habs fan I sincerely hope Captain Z has a quick and full recovery. It's sad to see any player out with an injury.
