the kundratek trade is a real bad one. he's an nhler imo one day soon
im amazed that no one on this board has been watching the wolf pack and can tell us how tim erixon is playing other than stat wise. do the euros on this board just iso mza the entire time?!?!
Yea, really wish we had someone gave us some sort of insight on Erixon. He's quietly putting up about a PPG ratio and I would assume he is on the top pair logging 22+ min.
I didn't see Erixon a lot recently so I didn't want to post my opinion of him, but people are really pushing the issue now, so here's my opinion based on only two recent games.
Erixon is fine. He's good positionally, better than he was 3 months ago in preseason. He rarely makes mistakes. He's mostly not noticeable, which is good on defense because it means he's not causing problems. On offense, when he gets points, you are kind of surprised and think it's a fluke, but then he keeps racking them up. It has more to do with a good first pass in his own zone or at center ice than MDZ/Stepan-like passes from the circle on the left to the circle on the right in the offensive zone.
Had Erixon been older, he'd have been in the NHL right now, but the Rangers are purposely taking things slowly to make sure that it helps him progress and become a better player in the long-term.
There's nothing wrong with Erixon. He'll finish the season in the NHL. People need to lay off the kid and remind themselves where McDonagh was at this time last season and how he plays today.
I wish I had gotten to one of the two home games over the weekend but I wasn't able to make it. Erixon didn't play the previous two games I saw because of his injury. Hopefully I can get you guys an opinion soon.
How has he looked as compared to McDonagh last season?
Better with the puck, a little worse without. McD always looked like he could predict what the guy he is defending against will do. Erixon is solid, just not perfect. Keep in mind that Erixon is almost a full year younger than McD was last year.
Even if he has to spend a little more time in the AHL than McD, he will still be younger at the time he cracks our lineup.

I agree, he has looked good the games i have seen but didnt get to see any this weekend. He also has a good shot and usually hits the net, and he has gotten quite a few of his pionts because of that(deflections and rebounds)

People need to stop freaking out every time a 20 year old isn't an above average, polished NHLer. Not everyone will be Stepan.
There is nothing wrong with guys like MDZ, Erixon, Sauer, etc not playing top end hockey.
This is why need to temper our expectations of Miller because we are setting ourselves for a disappointment.
i don't think anyone is freaking out about the kid not being in the nhl i think people are freaking out because they see the kid scoring a point a game and NO ONE in this thread has said Boo about how he's actually playing.
good to hear some things about him. he's not mcd because he will NEVER skate like mcd. but on the other hand his game should be solid positionally and with the NYR he was struggling badly and getting beat which just didn't happen to him in europe very often.
If it were up to me i'd have him spend the whole year in hartford.
that would be based on staal and sauer coming back healthy and playing with girardi mcd mdz and eminger to make up a solid top 6 with stralman and woywitka for depth.
let the kid get his stuff together and be ready to compete for a spot next season with the big club.
Yeah I agree. Being poor I can't watch any of the games so I just want to know how he looks. I'm not particularly worried about they're handling him. I think the Rangers have done a really excellent job in terms of developing their defensemen especially once they get to Hartford.
Girardi, Sauer, McD, and MDZ have all benefited greatly from being in Hartford for at least half a year sometimes more if warranted. It makes me feel good about Erixon's and McIlrath's futures with this team.
All we wanted was an update, because literally not a word has been said about him since he got sent down, and that's not an exaggeration.
Possibly because nobody watches Hartford regularly and did not want to be The Expert based on just a few games. But if you take all of us here together, we saw most of his games and nobody saw anything terrible.

There are multiple posters that watch nearly every game of the Whale, and every single post is about Zuccarello. Yet not a single update on Erixon was giving. I think everyone was mainly curious, that's all.
And thank you, I appreciate the update on Erixon, sounds like he's doing fine.

Does anybody know where Squishy went? I really miss her insightful comments...
