It's really a shame that we can't send him to the ECHL or banish him to the CHL.

Is this the same source that said Avery hit a cop?
Also with Avery everybody jumps to conclusions when something allegedly is said. Haven't we learned by now to wait until the true information comes out instead of speculating?

I'd find it seriously hard to believe that Avery would spit on his coach, he's not that stupid...in fact, he's probably a really intelligent guy.
I can however see him refusing to play. If the Post story is true he knows that other teams are interested in him, which means he also knows that the New York Rangers are sandbagging his way back to the NHL. Avery knows he's an NHL capable player, and I can see the frustrations getting to anyone in this sense.
Morris just needs to sit him down and tell him that the best way to get back to the NHL is to keep his head down and play his ass off in the A.
There's no reason, from the Rangers perspective, to put him on re-entry waivers because someone is interested in him and be on the hook for 1/4 of his salary against the cap. Period.

Well, we've learned a couple things
1. A person who has been implicated in as many stupid situations as Avery usually has that track record for a reason, even if some of the leaks are overblown
2. Avery is a disrespectful jerk with little regard for authority figures and even less so for his fledgling NHL career
3. People like you, who defend him at every turn and are fans because he screened Brodeur in a funny way years ago and mouthed off to people back when he was an effective player, will never ever admit what a toxic joke this guy has become.

Yup. Only way he's leaving is by trade or by going to Europe.

Correct.
"The Rangers are sandbagging his path back to the NHL"....thats a joke perspective and makes me embarrased to be a Rangers fan when I see crap like that coming from the fanbase. Don't you realize that putting Avery on re-entry hurts the Rangers cap situation? Statements like that put Avery's well-being over the franchise's. What a joke.
All Avery is doing is further validating the fact that he is a bad seed.

Obviously I understand that, don't quote me like I'm an idiot here...I was just making a case for the other side of the story...

Sather has a history of saying that he likes Sean (also that he's a detriment ) but this is still a business and I don't think he's looking to do Sean any favors. If that was the case he'd be on re-entry by now.
If nothing else this article by the Post may put a timer on other GMs in terms of their thought process on Avery.
And for those saying "where was this team when he was on re-entry the first time?" Remember, the first time Avery was on re-entry was before he proved that he could play in the NHL this season.

Not singling you out. Its just your quote/"other side of the story" is used far too often to explain away all the issues associated with Avery. It often gets white-washed by Avery fans and leads to simpleton arguments that Avery should play because hes better than Erik Christensen.
The main reason Avery is not in the NHL is because hes a disrespectful jerk. Refusing to play last night is just another example of whats made him toxic to the rest of the NHL. When is he going to learn? How many times does he have to be reminded his hockey career is on its last legs?

Rangers say Avery did not spit on coach and did not refuse to play with AHL team. Discipline based on combination of other matters.

Ok, I'm trying to build a reputation here as a fair poster who takes both sides of the story into account always and tries to build posts based on facts rather than opinion, so sorry I attacked you unfairly.
As for refusing to play...

I hope none of these kids pick up on his behavior.
Regardless of what it was, there is a friggin sideshow every week it seems. Mostly the fault of false sources in this case but hat exists exists and wouldn't if we hadn't had to try to rejuvenate him out of Dallas in the first place.
Can't understand benching him over a few penalties though. Guess they just expect more out of him than the others.
Sean's a passionate guy. He probably got an earful from the coach over those penalties and didn't respond all that well to it. Might have talked back. Coaches can't have that. They show him they don't accept any misbehaving on his part, and send a message to the kids that they need to behave themselves. "We suspended this guy, who has 580 NHL games. No matter how good you think you are, you respect the coaches. Don't step out of line."
