Sean's a passionate guy. He probably got an earful from the coach over those penalties and didn't respond all that well to it. Might have talked back. Coaches can't have that. They show him they don't accept any misbehaving on his part, and send a message to the kids that they need to behave themselves. "We suspended this guy, who has 580 NHL games. No matter how good you think you are, you respect the coaches. Don't step out of line."
Nice. So Avery's biggest contribution these days is "teaching" our minor league kids the lessons of what not to do as a professional; the guy has become a caricature of himself. It'd be funny if it wasnt so sad.
I think whats really going on here is pretty simple. There was an incident, and the Rangers are currently playing damage control in hopes of getting rid of him somehow.

How do you read that from what I wrote? All I said was my guess was Avery went too far, and management decided they needed to do something, especially considering they need to show the kids that you don't get away with that sort of thing, no matter who you are.
You are probably right in saying there was an incident. I would consider talking back to the coach an incident. Maybe you would not, but as I said, I would.
He's such a baby, such an *******, such a distraction, such a *******, etc...so why are consummate pros like Lundqvist and Richards, dedicated winners, so friendly with him. On 24/7, he was seen having a meal with Prust. Not that Voros is a great player or anything, but they're friends, too, and Voros is great friends with Gaborik.
Why do these guys not only tolerate such a piece of ****, but choose to spend time with him? I don't think of them as ********, but something tells me they don't see Avery that way, either.

Because people just like to beat people when they are down. Especially people on this message board.
From most accounts Avery is a really good guy away from hockey, very friendly. That's why his teammates like to be around him and spend their time away from the rink with him.
Some of the comments in this thread about that bs spitting story are embarrassing to say the least. Especially these:

I was talking about Hartford.
And I would hope adults could look past this guy's moronic antics and inflated ego.
And are you seriously going to use 24/7 as a frame of reference? An edited "reality" show?
Besides, there is no way you can tell what Henrik and Richards truly think about him anyway. Some people are born with or develop this thing called tact and never mix business with personal. For all we know, Henrik tells his wife at the dinner table that Avery is a world class ********* and he wants him gone.
When a man close to his 30's keeps finding ways to get his name in the papers and it has nothing to do with hockey, and just likes bringing attention to himself (since his hockey skills arent enough) I consider it grown men acting childish, which can also mean babyish.
If Hartford/AHL is supposed to the the highest developmental league level for the Rangers organization, Sean Avery is the last person I want to be there.
I can't wait until he's gone. Then I can stop reading the same opinions from the same people over and over. It will be great. The only thing more tired than Avery's act is the predictable responses from certain parties here at HF.

Sucks that Zuccarello hurt himself again.
Agreed. He just has to go. I used to love the guy, but it's time to move on.

Mitchell R. Beck There are several stories that we will be tracking tonight. The two biggest are the condition of Mats #Zuccarello & the status of Sean Avery

Some of us are tired of hearing complaining about the way we deal with Avery.
Some of us hate him. Some of us love him. Some of us complain about having to read about it.
The good news: Avery assisted Voros' goal to tie the game at 2
The bad news: 7 seconds later, Avery gets a 10-minute misconduct for abuse of officials....
