Not worried about Zach at all- yes, he has been a little off from his usual solid play lately but this time last year he was at about an .890 and ended the year at .909 so after November last year he was going at about at least a .920 clip to have ended up there.

Posters who hate Zach, or have an irrational bias against him have to look at small windows to try and prove their assssment of his play. Take for instance Game 4 against Rouyn-Noranda in last year's playoffs where the Mooseheads won 9-6 to close out the series- 6.00 GAA and a SVP of .833. Anybody who just looking at the stats would say the Mooseheads won because they scored 9 goals to make up for Zach's poor play and say that whoever gave Zach 2nd star in that game was on something. But these people don't account for Zach keeping the Mooseheads in the game in the first when RN had 18 shots, most of them dangerous.

There are goalies in the Q who have much better stats than Zach- take Marcoux for example. But since BLB plays a stricter defensive style than the Mooseheads he doesn't get the dangerous shots that Zach faces.

Zach also makes the big save when it is required- the biggest one that I remember is the 2 on 1 against Portland with a 4-2 lead in the Mem Cup final, he makes a huge save and Drouin sends Mackinnon off and Konrad gets the rebound to make it 5-2.

Lastly, I would rather go by the word of hockey people like Cam Russell and Dominic Ducharme in their assessment of Fucale. They had him right up there with Nate and Jo as far as his importance in the Moosehead's championship season.

He's a good kid, will be interesting whether he makes the WJC team at 18.
Would be way more interesting in a lot of ways if he didn't make the team.

LOL and you would be correct

draft position/success rate for goalies may as well be completely random

since 1990:

Just so you know, Mrazek was drafted in the 5th round (141st) in 2010.

Fucale with the shutout against Moncton tonight. Great bounce back game after being pulled in that 15-5 circus.

Just thought it would be nice if someone actually said something positive about Fucale in this thread.

He is 18, already proven winner. Stephen Waite must be drooling at the prospect of working with him. Habs were lucky that he was there at 36

No? Why do you ask guy with 2 habs prospects in his name? Is it because I'm not praising a guy like mad during a bad start to the season? Or did his last shutout cover up his consistency issue this year?

Dude, the kid is not playing as expected. Look at the 2nd round drafted goalies from 2013 draft. I've also included the goalie in their respective leagues with the highest save percentage to try to account for scoring differences in the leagues.

He's not hanging in there very well.

I thought Jarry was the best G prospect before the draft and Fucale hasn't done anything to convince me otherwise. It's a joke that he was voted the 4th best G prospect here. He's the Fleury of the QMJHL, a mediocre goalie that people think is good because he gets wins on a stacked team.

In fairness Fleury was the complete opposite in junior. Stood on his head nightly getting shelled with shots and lost more often than not on a bad team

I meant Fleury now. Fleury in the Q was actually super good, especially because his team was ass. Fucale in the Q is Fleury now in the NHL.

Any comment on his shutout the previous night ...? Because "Halifax fans are concerned/worried about goaltending this year" lol.

He's in a minor slump, jump all over him.

I've always thought he was a little overrated because of the powerhouse team he played on last year, but he's still a very good goalie prospect. One game does not change that. I haven't followed him a whole lot this year though.

You really come up with some ridiculous ideas. You think that Junior goalie stats are equivalent to NHL goalie stats? Fucale is one of the better goalies in the Q this year, even when he hasn't played particularly well by his standards. That said, I don't expect a whole lot of actually useful insight from you anymore.

In fairness, the moose heads were up 6-1 so maybe they started to think all offense and no d. Not sure as I have no idea, but you get the point. They always leave the goalies out on an island as they are so good offensively. It doesn't matter as Zac has years before he hits the NHL anyways.

He did get the win btw

It's not one game

It's just funny because I said he was having a bad start and a bunch of Habs/Moose fans jumped down my throat, then bragged about 1 good game (shutout) which was immediately followed by 5 goals against on 22 shots, which has been the trend this season. String of rough games, 1-2 good games, then string of rough games. No consistency without the powerhouse.

His shutout in the previous game really helped him out tonight eh?

My favorite part is that I've said I still like Fucale as a goalie prospect
All I've said is
A) He's off to a bad start to the season (now 1/3 through the season)
B) He was highly overrated last year (that doesn't mean he wasn't a good goalie prospect, people just put him on a pedestal he didn't deserve)
and C) His rough start to this season was a bit predictable

Some probably think I'm out to get Fucale, ignoring that I've said a dozen times that I'm still a fan of Fucales. I just keep poking because I find it hilarious when fans can't admit their player is off to a rough start to a season when he's off to a rough start the season and there's really no argument to be had

OK, if you follow him that much, could you give a little deeper of an analysis? Not trying to be rude, just trying to gather some insight, as I haven't had the time to follow him as much as I'd like.
