Is there some etiquette or unspoken rule that was violated by the Jets? Not like I ever respected or cared for the Trashers so this move won't change my opinion of them either way.

That's insanity. Yzerman would essentially be using Mittens as a grenade if that were the case.

That might work with goalies though. Keep signing the best of them until either they stop being claimed, or they're so cheap, that SFY can have his pick.

System is flawed a bit. Nothing really big though to lose this guy. Yzerman needs to find a solid #1 goalie and maybe a #3/4 D.

I feel bad for the guy. Can you imagine being told you're job transfer is taking you to Tampa, then at the last moment you get shipped to Winnipeg? Poor dude.

Yzerman said he has no problem with Winnipeg making the claim. "Not at all," he said. "If somebody else signed him, depending on the contract, we would have considered claiming him. They were well within the rules and were entitled to do it."
Quote:
"I don't know if it's fair or unfair, but there is a flaw to it," Yzerman said. "I think it needs to be tweaked. Maybe, like, you can't be claimed by a team higher than you in the standings, I don't know."

As for Miettinen, [Boucher] added, "He'll have to pack up some snow suits instead of bathing suits."

Wild.com: What about winter hobbies? Do you like to ice fish or other do other outdoor winter activities Minnesotans revel in torturing themselves with?

AM: (Laughing) No, not really. I like winter, but I donít like the cold that much. I go outside for walks with my wife, but I like to stay warm. But I do like to look outside the window at the snow and the sun shining.

Does "cold" really begin to describe Winnipeg in winter?

$3M is $3M...

He can buy some artificial palm trees for the living room.

But his take home pay just took a dip.

What's the big deal anyway? Nobody wanted him when he was a UFA.....his KHL team really didn't care whether he stayed so....? Congrats to the 'peg - you just spent $3M.

A lot of us were seriously pissed when the Jets put Kulda on waivers. You could suitably screw us back by grabbing him. Young, defensive minded, and good size. Played very well with us this last stint.

Back to my igloo to try and numb the pain of living in a frozen wasteland

Kulda cleared.

Winnipeg put Jason Jaffray on waivers.

Keep on trying.

Miettinen would have been an upgrade to at least seven other forwards we have on the team. But we cannot really improve until we upgrade our defensive core and here we go again trying to find a goaltender routine.

It's all relative. Tomorrow the high in Winnipeg is expected to be 14F. In Tampa I haven't had to wear long sleeves yet this year.

If we did claim Kulda would he have to be carried on the NHL roster?

You do realize that Winnipeg isn't in the tundra ecozone, right?

Lots of ignorance around here with regards to Winnipeg and our ecozones and FOUR SEASONS climate, that is much more than just winter

Good lord. I make a little joke without using the sarcasm smiley and they come running. What do I say to get rid of them?

Yikes, i dont know if that was considered greasy but im happy we were able to get miettinen, thought id pop in here to see the discussion. Sounds like you guys are peeved. Big upgrade over jaffray.

If i was a tampa fan i wouldnt sweat it.. Its only a matter of time before your allstars start clicking and you forget all about depth. We dont have that luxury, miettinen helps out bigtime. Huge signing. Glad we got the claim. Might give us an edge down the road battling for 8th. You guys have a good team though, likely be in there for playoffs assuming the guys in your system can step up down the road.

And the nice thing about our cold winters: it weeds out the fakes (versteegs). If they arent here to play hockey, we dont want em. We want grizzly mothers. Lumberjacks. No pretty boys. Suntan and hockey dont mix. Lets see that thermo drop

I read this and pictured a bunch of Jets on packages of paper towels.

A hockey game in shorts? How terrible. Thats like wearing shorts on an airplane, poor etiquette (see curb your enthusiasm)

No one wants to see those legs, especially in a family environment. No offense. Even if their tanned. Besides, it shouldnt matter for hockey players.. They all have to wear a suit to the game, regardless of the temperature
