Per Chain's orders...

With Weber back, what do you THINK we'll see, and what do YOU WANT to see?

I'd love to add "Gragnani: 2-3 weeks (Hurt Feelings)" to the injury report, and go with Weber, McNabb, Sekera, Leo, Regehr, Ehrhoff in some combo. I'm just not sure how to work it.

Weber was bad in preseason and had a rough couple of games, ending with the injury. He's got to be better or else McNabb is going to take his place. Personally, McNabb could probably take MAG's place and give them better defense and similar in-zone offensive production AND a robust hitting presence on the backend. But... that's not the Regier/Ruff way. It's rare for a guy to force his way onto the team, even if the kid may be even with a more established player. He'll go back to Rochester in all likelihood.

But it should put MAG and Weber on point that they could be packing their bags for another city sooner rather than later.

3 hitters and 3 puck movers would be fantastic, but I expect Weber to be a healthy scratch and tons of PP time for Grags.

I think we're all in agreement here. Wouldn't keeping McNabb up create a cap problem?

You think McNabb is higher than Weber on the chart now? I doubt it.

I expect they will want to keep A #7 up, and won't want McNabb wasting time in the box.

A variety of reasons, I'm sure:

1) He sees Campbell level potential in him.
2) He sees this as a make or break time in Grags career, and he wants to make him.
3) We've had so many injuries that our top-four has been pretty much predetermined.
4) Erhoff has been playing so well that despite Grags poor play, playing with Erhoff (which means extra ice time), Grags has maintained a respectable +/-

No. According to Capgeek Boyes and Myers are on LTIR. That gives us a 28,649 daily LTIR allowance. So we can keep McNabb up if we wanted.

What I'd like to see:

Regehr-Ehrhoff
McNabb-Leopold
Weber-Sekera

or swap Ehrhoff and Leopold to utilize Regehr/Leopold's past chemistry. Let Gragnani sit for one or two to think about his game assuming the cap allows (just saw the post above, so this is fine)

Three pairings of defense/offense... want

Cool. In that case, I definitely want to see some more games from McNabb. I think he could could quickly move up our depth chart. This is a tough year for Weber.

This is sort of OT but........ the fact that our owner lets the GM/coach play with LTIR money gives us options we've never had before.

With guys coming back, it would be really nice for Ruff to sit Gragnani for a game or two. Give Weber another chance, and if he bombs then at least in the back of our heads we'll know Gragnani wouldn't have done much better.

Though, to be honest, he has made such bad mistakes so consistently the last few games that I fear a benching is so expected and long-time-coming at this point... and won't have that "oh no, they benched me, I really need to get my **** together" effect.

If that makes any sense...

Why would you keep Grags in that situation Corto? Lol

Preferred:

Regehr - Leopold
Ehrhoff - Sekera
Weber - McNabb

Gragnani

More likely:
Regehr - Leopold
Ehrhoff - Gragnani
Webber - Sekera

McNabb goes to rochester (Maybe I think if he was going to be sent back it would have been last night so we don't need to pay for the day.

What I see happening is either:

Scenario A: They keep McNabb and sit Weber, Ruff is probably going to be insanely careful with players coming back from injury.

Scenario B: They keep McNabb for today, scratch him tonight and if Weber has no setbacks he's sent back down til at minimum the weekend and may bring him along as an emergency callup.

As everyone else has said, I would prefer to scratch Grags and try to recover his Mojo from Fat ******* or his Brain from whatever scientist stole it and obviously replaced with that of an untrained chimp...I say untrained cause at this point a trained chimp could pass the puck forward.
