Columbus comes into the draft knowing they have already made up their mind about who they pick #1. There is no doubt that Nail Yakupov is their guy and will be playing for Columbus the following season and hopefully will be the face of the franchise one day. Nail's great speed, good hands and a mighty shot make him a devastating offensive force whom many compare to fellow Russian Alexander Ovechkin.

Discuss.

i think montreal would rather take a forward
Frk maybe

since the team is lacking depth in good wing prospects and they already drafted 2 Din the 1st round in the past 2 years

Caps don't need Dumba, we have Orlov.
We need a Center, they'd take Galchenyuk or Grigorenko

You're analysis of the Ducks pick assumes that Ryan Getzlaf has just vanished into thin air. That's one thing. Another thing, as it stands we're last in the league. Why are we picking 5th? Unless this is your prediction of the end year standings. I can also guarantee you that if Grigorenko is still on the board, the Ducks don't run the risk of picking an injured forward like Galchenyuk. Grigorenko is fighting for first overall recognition. I DOUBT he even falls past #3.

Good, since the Devils desperatly need a PP QB, we would be willing to swap picks and give you back your 2nd round pick. That way, we would get Dumba and you guys would get Grigorenko.

Ok, now you call McPhee and I'll call Lou

No chance the Canes pass on a guy that can step into their top 6 forwards now (Forsberg or Grigorenko) to draft a dman. They have a ton of young depth on D, it's future top 6 forwards they're lacking in a big way.

Goaltending and RW are really the only weaknesses in the Hawks system. I'd be stoked if we picked Dansk, though, I doubt Bowman goes with a goaltender. The fact that he's Swedish however may give him an edge.

Sabres SHOULD be looking at Centers only...so, that means your pick is probably spot on. Darcy says thanks for the research and the pick and goes and hides until July 1st.

Calgary will most likely take a forward.

While I truly think the Nuck's will draft a defenseman, I would punch a wall with my forehead if it is Ebert.

Olli Maatta and Matt Finn are both better defensemen, imo.

I find Nick Ebert to be very good and underrated. Knock me down and call me Susan.

*knocks SuperSwede21 down*

YOU'RE WRONG SUSAN!

Ebert has been awful. Not a good showing for a guy projected to go top 10 in his draft year. That suggests that he's not going to be able to do much to make himself nhl ready when he's drafted. I could see him falling as far as the third round.

More like overrated. He was considered a top 5 pick by a lot of people and at the least a top 10 pick. He's played horrible this year and will probably go in the 2nd round now.

Olli Maata please. Than Konsta Makinen in the middle rounds.

Honestly think the Leafs would take a defensemen over Frk. We already have good young forwards but the lack of top end defensive talent is really hurting.

Ebert's situation seems similar to that of a prior spitfire- Cam Fowler.

He was ranked in the top 3, and then fell to 12th I believe, and Anaheim had the steal of the draft.

He ended up doing one better, by actually making the NHL club as an 18 year old, and hasnt looked back.

Its all about fit. I believe that if Dougie Hamilton was drafted by any other team except for Boston, he would have never been sent back down to Juniorr. JMO

It's nowhere near Fowler's situation. Ebert isn't even close talent-wise just for starters. Ebert has been terrible in his draft year and it naturally hurt his stock. Fowler stayed consistent with his good play but more attractive names rose quickly and scouts got excited about them and forgot about Cam for a bit. But C4 still remained top 5 on most rankings. He fell cause teams were drafting on team need, namely scoring forwards, or in Dallas' case a goaltender, or in NYR's case a gritty defenseman. Cam was still very high on most team's lists. Ebert looks like he could fall all the way to the early third round now.

haha, pretty crazy how in 1 month the Avs and the Oilers have basically had a complete Swap.

Oilers would now be picking 5th overall, while the Caps would now have the 16th Overall pick, and there own pick would actually be right before the Avs pick.

Funny how quick things change.

I doubt the Coyotes pick a D for at least 9 reasons: Keith Yandle, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Brandon Gormley, David Rundblad, David Schlemko, Connor Murphy, Chris Summers, Maxim Goncharov, and being an organization desperate for a legitimate top O prospect.

Yandle is the old guy in that D group at age 25. D is set. If the pick is in the bottom half of the 1st and defensemen are far-and-away the BPAs when it's time for the Coyotes to draft, my guess is they trade down (maybe 2-3 times) to pick up extra assets. Guys I'd like to see them key on are Frk, Faksa, Gaunce, or Kosmachuk.
