Thanks but Kirk and the other men and women who serve our country obviously deserve the most thanks and also all the men and women who donated to make this possible for Kirk and Taz!

Why would the army ban this website?

Do Database Errors threaten national security?

I saw you were the last poster on this thread and I thought "Wow, maybe acr has posted some nice tribute to Kirk for serving his country. I've gotta see this." I should've known.

And I wanted to add my thanks to Silva for all he's doing. It is nice of people to donate money toward what you are doing, but it takes a very special person to record and ship out the game dvds for so long.

alex - kirk said to thank you again for all the great DVDs - he said he just watched lucic beat the tar out of tarnasky again...and again. also wanted me to let you know that march 1st is the deadline for sending anything over to him - after that, they are cutting it off since they will hopefully be back in the not too distant future after that.

thanks, lawrence, I will keep that date in mind. I think I'm going to send over the 8 DVDs I have now and then send whatever I have the last day of Feb as the last shipment. I'm happy he's enjoying the DVDs

8 DVDs shipped out today

Here is where the fund stands
$194.82
($4.60) shipping
----------
$188.22
----------
----------

I am going to send out one more shipment on February 27 with the 4 games vs Carolina, Florida, TB, and Ottawa. This will be the last shipment I will send to Kirk since he will be coming home and will not get mail after March 1.

That means there'll be one more shipment of 4.60 so the fund will be left with

$183.62

those who helped donate money need to help me decide what to do with it since Taz and Kirk are now home

It's a good chunk of money.. here are some ideas I have

-Go back and try to figure out who donated how much and then split it depending on how the ratios work out. This is hard though because I don't have records of who sent what and there were so many people that donated money (both last year and then the new people that donated the 2nd time around) that each person would only get $10 or so back.

-Donate the rest of the money to a charity. If this is the case, we'd have to pick a charity.

I'm happy to have helped Taz and Kirk out over the past year + but I'm a little relieved it's finally going to be over It's going to be weird not programming that DVD recorder three times a week and making the DVDs!

Silva, I vote for donating the money to a fund that helps injured soldiers.

shipped 6 more DVDs Saturday, the last DVDs that will be shipped to Kirk in Iraq.

$188.22
($4.60) shipping
----------
$183.62
----------

because Kirk will not receive mail after this point but will still be in Iraq for 4-6 more weeks, I will still record the games but I will send them to his home address. When he is home and I do not need to send them anymore, we can donate the rest of the money to an injured soldier charity like BMC suggested.

Can a mod re-sticky this since the trade deadline has passed?

Ok, I have sent the final 20 DVDs to Kirk at home! It was 2 packages so 9.20 for the shipping.

$183.62
($9.20) shipping
----------
$174.42
----------
----------

that leaves us with $174.42 I have just donated this amount to https://www.woundedwarriorproject.or.../view/627/924/ in the name of HFBoards
the money goes to help wounded soldiers returning from overseas.

Thanks for all that helped donate. This has been over a year long project and we've been able to help 2 people out. Great job all of you!

by the way, these boards have seemed REALLY slow lately. Where have all the Boston Die Hards gone?!

Alex- Please don't misunderstand from my PM- I am eternally GRATEFUL for all the time, energy and resources you dedicated to helping my deployment. What I wrote was directed at the alarming situation I have noted over the past several days, but was not in any way directed at you.

Thank you again for all you did, and the donation to the Wounded Warriors project could not have gone to a better cause, IMO. We had over 800 Soldiers wounded in action in our brigade alone. Not all of those were severe wounds, but it gives you an idea of how many injured veterans are out there who need help and support.

Thank you all for donating and for being there for me. Alex will always be a hero in my book for all he did by going out of his way when he didn't have to. People talk all the time about what they are *going* to do. Alex not only said it, but he *DID* it, and those DVD packages I received were a huge morale boost not only to me, but to the other B's fans in my unit I passed them to.

OK- off the soap box, but seriously. Thanks to you and all who donated- I'm humbled by the class and generosity of you all!
