If the Murrays want to keep signing these college guys, they better not start trading them. That would put a quick end to it.
Huh? Butler has 2.1 million reasons to thank Bryan Murray. Anyway, I'm sure Butler looked at Ottawa as good opportunity to crack an NHL roster (and subsequent safer bet to make money) and further his development vs. wondering if the GM would trade him a year and a half later. Trades are part of the business. Either way, even IF Butler were to be traded, that's one college player. Probably wouldn't tarnish Murray's reputation.

I don't understand why everyone is so high on Regin. Here's a stat comparison:
Brassard's point totals:
17 GP - 1G 1A 2P
31 GP - 10G 15A 25P
79 GP - 9G 27A 36P
74 GP - 17G 30A 47P
21 GP - 2G 3A 5P
Regin's point totals:
11 GP - 1G 1A 2P
75 GP - 13G 16A 29P
55 GP - 3G 14A 17P
6 GP - 1G 2A 3P
Regin is 25, Brassard is 24. Why wouldn't we trade for Brassard again?
Because Brassard is
-3 times more expensive
-can only play center
-is useless if not scoring (Regin is the opposite)
-has been worse offensively than Regin this year and it's what he is paid to do
-Regin was hurt last year and had a bad year
I'm calling a 2-for-1 player deal to free up the logjam we have on our NHL roster at the moment, and bring in a "Brassard Type" player who has the potential to upgrade our top-6.
I an see Butler or Neil being moved pretty soon, actually. Lee is a common target, but with Gonch an Kuba out, I'm not so sure it will happen immediately. I sort of think Carkner might get moved first.
A guy like Dubinksy might be a good target for us, honestly. He's not having a great year, but Brad Richards sort of took his top-6 spot out from under him, and it's hard to produce when you're not on the ice. New York have some real depth at enter, and are playing a lot of guys out of position to accommodate them all. They need defence, seems like a good fit.
Kuba + Butler (or something like that)
... Maybe have minor picks/ prospects (ie: guys to help out Bingo this year) involved.
