It probably means, that it must be removed after the game and remade before the next game once again, because it is not possible to lay basketball/handball floor upon the ice in arena. Inconvenient and expensive.

I think they should just find a window in schedule for a month or so and do a proper reconstruction. It's not that expensive when you think about it. Sooner or later they'll have to do it or KHL will force them out of the league. If they do it now, they won't have to worry about it and could play in front of much bigger audience on a regular basis.

Not any time soon. It's closed for reconstruction till WC 2016.

I think it's a very expensive reconstruction actually.

It depends. From what I've seen it's not like they have an underground parking or anything. So it's just a matter of rebuilding the foundation mat. Unfortunate, but very much possible.

I think that the number of games at the arena will get increased year by year as they raise the interest and attendance even more. Its better to have it like this for now. 50-50 would be some ideal scenario for me, with Dom Sportova being even more refurbished.

see that is what im not sure. i know its expensive put on the non permanent ice and they play the 8-5 games on it in a row in a close schedual so i dont think it possible i guess to put handball court (our hand ball team plays there ). they did think about it to make the reconstruction this year how ever i guess it was to expensive, i guess for this year. They rather went into reconstruction of Dom Sportova. although im sure more spanking could and needs to be done to it as it is a big big house of sports (this hockey hall is 6.5k, next smaller hall is 3.2k and there are other 4 there) with big hall ways.
Aswell currently they play in the Zagreb Arena (which i find very beautiful and elegant) for free, as the city has 30 days free in it and allocated some of them to medvescak. So they would need additional funding if they intended to play there 50% of the time as its not exactly cheap to rent and Medvescak doesnt have a big budget. Also who would pay for the reconstruction, which is another hit on the budget.
Addition to that the Arena is booked 290 days out of the year (sometimes more) so it would be hard to find full 1 month for reconstruction (which im guessing will be needed eventually as it was one of the selling points to enter KHL). second problem that comes from it is that sporting events pay substantially less than events and concerts, so question would be how would the playing schedual look like in the Arena and what would be fiscally better for the Arena management. Although i belive they could organise it and fill the calander so the Arena would be filled 350 days in a year.

I don't get that part with the permanent ice. Cologne also has no permanent ice but we have hockey games in Lanxess Arena just 14 hours after concerts etc.

And the team surely has less budget than any KHL team.

In terms of capacity they pass KHL regulations for new arenas. >9000. As for who will play there, maybe an MHL team. I'd imagine they could create a VHL team in the future.

Ult's the man when it comes to the KHL infrastructure.

20k multipurpose arena for Moscow Region? Does that mean that Moscow handball and basketball clubs will also play in it?

Btw, is there 12k Barys arena ready to be open next year? Is Barys even working on their new home?

This model says it's for Moscow Region, i.e. Krasnogorsk. Though probably if it will be built elsewhere, in Cherkizovo for example, they will have to adjust the surroundings a bit - parking, and stuff.

Thanks.

It depends. They have different owners, and if they can't fill 20k arena it will be cheaper for them to rent a smaller venue.

They plan to complete it next year. We'll see. Here is a pic from a month ago.

Barys arena is planned to be done by Aug 2014, not sure if they'll finish by then, but at least they're working on it.
