For the time being CSKA are updating their rink. So the ice should be significantly better.

wtf? How is that even bad? The arena will host a number of games before the season starts. They are free to do whatever they want with it. Especially since it was built on regional money. I call that "либерастия головного мозга".

That's exactly true - they can do whatever they want with it, so putting on the oblast logo is one of the silliest things to do with it. They might have used it as ad space, and make the arena at least slightly less dependent on public money. Or I guess that's not the objective. Anyhow, arena is looking great, even if it's not the biggest one around. Most certainly an improvement over the "ice palaces" of 1960s/1970s.

Thad "state" ad is a bit lame, but the arena looks great indeed. Too bad it should have been built with a double capacity

A government is not a commercial entity, having state "ads" on jerseys and boards makes no sense whatsoever. I call that "cheesy as hell".

What ad space? The KHL season is too far away. And why would they use the KHL logos for non-KHL games? The KHL is regulating all of the ad placement, they send it out to clubs just before the start of the season. Only then the teams will know where there are vacant spaces that they could sell. And even if they can't find the buyer for the price they are asking, it's better to not sell it to anyone at all rather than cheapening the entry level for KHL advertisements.

The amount of ignorance is overwhelming, and yet you people don't have a moment of hesitation before putting the blame on someone.

Commenting on something that has the word "government" in it isn't always blaming (or praising).

well, i guess the ad is for the dumb ones to know whom they must thank or blame for the arena. of course, you must be consistent and stamp that kind of ads on broken-down houses, roads and other local delights, but who said the world is perfect

I hear where your coming from obskyr however in this case as elsewhere in the world it does actually make some sense as a governmental or state/provincial/municipal agency or authority does look to attract business investment. So just a city or state seal is fine really. Often games used to entertain CEO's etc of companies thinking of maybe a plant or distribution center opening etc. Goes well beyond tourism.

I like the new arena. When the KHL builds a bigger arena and decides to fund it rather than let the poor city build this thing, then and only then would it be appropriate to remove the city logo. From the new (unbuilt as of now) arena that is.

What surprises you? You can see the CSKA arena in a post before that, and it only has 3 stands and yet it has 5500 seats.

What about the arena from Surgut. I've seen a news that a team will play there in VHL next season? At the moment there are still things to improve at the arena...

Surgut is a town in the proximity of Khanty-Mansiysk and it has a population with more than 300.000 people.

Legends Arena. They're hoping to complete it in December 2014. Dynamo Moscow is negotiating to play the remainder of season there. The arena owners say that they want to house as many teams as they can.

Nizhny Novgorod. The new ice. You can spot the difference between the last and this season blue lines.

Is this the new ice that KHL has been working on? I read somewhere that they were working with a company to provide whiter ice. Also, I read that some teams have HD broadcasting capabilities but since there was grey ice, the HD did not work well. Now that teams are upgrading there ice, will more teams be broadcasting in HD - if so which new additions for this year?

It's just Jet Ice. And the problem for HD isn't the color of ice, but the amount of lighting. I can't say about the new additions, I haven't paid any attention to it yet.

Rosneft got 20 hectares of land for the new CSKA arena (18000 - 20000 seats). The construction will take 3 years.

The purple zone is where the new arena will be located. The pic is just for reference.

It's a private project by corp TEN, one of the top 30 developers in Russia. They are in it for money. CSKA and Dynamo could play there for the next 3 years, and then maybe Spartak will be back in KHL in the future. Also there are a small arena with 3000 seats for MHL level teams and a training rink with 500 seats.

And not to mention that Arena isn't the whole project, there are also a hockey museum, synchronous swimming center, a parking with 4000 parking spaces, a hotel for 700 rooms, offices, shopping malls and so on. I.e. a lot of money to be made.

They are not affiliated with any team in particular if that's what you are asking.
