My favourite game period is always the ea's NHL series, largely due to the EASHL. But another favourite from when I was a kid is NHL rock the rink. The commentators were hilarious and there was always crazy stuff going on.

NHL 97 for computer was awesome...

That game was so fun and the graphics for its time were amazing..

NHL 94 and 95 were awesome too because you could trade players and Roenick was insane...

I used to play Blades of Steel and International Ice Hockey as well for NES..

I'm not much of a gamer anymore tho..

The older games provide great nostalgia, but nothing beats the newer NHL series games in my opinion. Realistic gameplay and GM Mode is just plain awesome.

NHL 2002 on PC. I buy them every year (for 360 now), and this one stands out as the best.

03 or 04 the Avs have Tanguay, Hejduk, Sakic, Forsberg, Kariya, Selanne for there top 2 lines so much fun. Also my first hockey game and it's awesome that the Avs are stacked on paper that year.

There's also a 96/97 mod, a 2001+classic mod, an AHL mod, and a Russia/Czech Mod. There's also a fantastic keeper league which has been using NHL 04 for the past few seasons so get playing and join that.

This is the most challenging and best sim NHL game to date with the mod applied. Here are some videos (vids are a bit outdated, mod is pretty much up to date). You can download it and get info here:

Tremendous mods. It's the best NHL game for PC.
I used to be on the old Flyermania board before they moved over to 04Rebuilt.

Loved 2002 as well. I still play it online with some buds every now and then.

Nhl 94, NHL 95
NHL 2004 as mentioned earlier was a really great game
NHL 10-11 both great

The worst?

As soon as you skate past the red line, the camera flips on you and takes a second to do so. Family couldn't afford a ton of games when I was younger, this was unfortunately one of the ones I got stuck with.

I remember on NHL 97 for PC there was an ad on the boards near the blue line and if you were right beside it you would score every-time.

Not the best but NHL 2k5 is the reason in such a big hockey fan.

Loved using the Flyers with Primeau, JR, Amonte, and Esche in net.

Mutant League Hockey was actually quite good, but it was basically a NHL 94 clone with some ridiculous modifications.

I probably put more play time into NHL2002 for PC than any other but my favorite has to be NHL94 on Genesis(far superior to the SNES version). I also liked Ice Hockey much better than Blades of Steel. I hated the fact that there was a moving arrow on the goal line showing your opponent where your shot was going to go.

NHL '94 looks amazing, if I could find it somewhere on eBay.

I'll have to go with NHL 11, just because I wasn't around for '94.
