Don't believe Kulda is on waivers. Think he was just re-assigned to St. Johns.
Damn shame with all these concussions in the league. I think the concussion happened when Staios made that great play to stop Cole's scoring chance. Would rather see Ness up here instead of CDH. I'd rather have de Haan have a full year in the A before he even sees an NHL rink.
with respect to Staios he is the only "veteran" that looks like he actually cares when he is on the ice. Would like to see Ness and Calvin DeHann play. Ya cant say we are rushing him as a prospect
its all relative. he has been good in comparison to some of our other d men...(clearing throat) mottau. Who will be on top pairing with streit now? perhaps hamonic?

Hamonic and Streit have been playing together for a few games now, and before that Streit was playing with Jurcina. It's been a while since he played with Staios.
Staios played 17:57 in Montreal last night but was feeling symptoms of a concussion this morning and missed practice getting examined. He is definitely out of tomorrow night's game against the Stars per NHL concussion protocol, which means the team will be calling up a sixth defenseman from Bridgeport.
Which means either Aaron Ness or Calvin de Haan will be making his NHL debut tomorrow.
So the Islanders need one of either Ness or de Haan to play tomorrow, and possibly on the upcoming road trip to Minnesota and Winnipeg.
"They got to get their feet wet sometime," Mark Streit said. "I'm not worried about either of those guys. We saw them in training camp and they're both good young players."
My vote is easily for Ness if those are the only two choices. I liked what I've seen of him and I want de Haan handled with the utmost of care and caution. I want to wait for de Haan to be overripe and his supporting cast to be that much better when he finally arrives.
It's a shame that Katic isn't healthy. He probably would have been a really good choice by this stage of the season.
Totally baffles me that that Wishart did not make this roster to start the season.
That being said, Ness or de Haan either one works for me. Calling either one up on an EMERGENCY basis is not going to destroy their development. I mean not for nothing we had to assume at some point in the season one of these guys woud become a fixture on the blueline.

I was thinking the same thing about Katic, I enjoyed watching his speed last year, a real boost to the teams transition game.
