they must have reshot 80% of the movie--Channing was killed off in the opening sequence!!!
Budget must've gone through the roof.
On the new trailer, North Korea's representative's reaction was hilarious after the line "you're looking at a weapon capable of destroying each of your countries 14 times over. 15, in case of North Korea.". "Dude, can't we get any respect?"
I never played with a GI Joe toy once in my childhood, nor did I see the movie that comes before this one, so my opinion will likely differ greatly from someone who has.
That being said, this movie did nothing for me at all. I am a guy who can generally enjoy a crappy movie (hell, I didn't mind battleship), but something about this one was just a turnoff. For a movie that attempts to come off as more casual, it really relies on people having a prior knowledge more than it should. I would go into more detail, but I'm posting from a phone so I'll just stay with this statement: If you're a fan of anything GI Joe already, ignore me. If you are new to the GI Joe universe, don't expect this to draw you in.
I haven't seen the second one so I can't comment but I wish they try to stop trying to make the biggest and flashiest movie and just remake G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero aka The MASS Device but a little more modern. Return to it's roots. Even if they did a movie just on Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow's backstory going back to Vietnam etc up to the present would be cool.
Definitely better than the first one but still not very good. Even Transformers 2 was better and that's not a compliment to either movie. The only time it felt like "GI Joe" was during the mountain fight scene, which was brilliant. Other than that, I had a hard time caring about anything that happened onscreen.
