Budget must've gone through the roof.

On the new trailer, North Korea's representative's reaction was hilarious after the line "you're looking at a weapon capable of destroying each of your countries 14 times over. 15, in case of North Korea.". "Dude, can't we get any respect?"

Just saw this on CBC. Epic trailer and the movie looks epic. Really loving some of the Rock's movies these days, really playing to his strengths.

It's getting good reviews from GI Joe fan sites. Pro critics not so much.

I never played with a GI Joe toy once in my childhood, nor did I see the movie that comes before this one, so my opinion will likely differ greatly from someone who has.

That being said, this movie did nothing for me at all. I am a guy who can generally enjoy a crappy movie (hell, I didn't mind battleship), but something about this one was just a turnoff. For a movie that attempts to come off as more casual, it really relies on people having a prior knowledge more than it should. I would go into more detail, but I'm posting from a phone so I'll just stay with this statement: If you're a fan of anything GI Joe already, ignore me. If you are new to the GI Joe universe, don't expect this to draw you in.

Paramount Preps G.I. Joe 3
Retaliation's box office leads to a third installment.

Quote:
Following G.I. Joe: Retaliation's admirable $132 million opening, Paramount has decided to move forward on another action-packed sequel.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Debuts Atop the Box Office

As Variety points out, the decision may seem sudden, but it's worth noting that the studio had nine months to think it over during Retaliation's 3D conversion delay.

While little is yet known about G.I. Joe 3, one thing's for certain: It will definitely be in 3D.

Was pretty darn bad, was hoping for more but I guess that was something I should not have hoped for.

I am rather surprised there is a plan to do a 3rd one.

#2 was better than the first, but still not good. I literally felt like I didn't care what happened to who - at all. And, I am a HUGE GI Joe cartoon fan. Had all the toys as a kid too.

I haven't seen the second one so I can't comment but I wish they try to stop trying to make the biggest and flashiest movie and just remake G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero aka The MASS Device but a little more modern. Return to it's roots. Even if they did a movie just on Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow's backstory going back to Vietnam etc up to the present would be cool.

The most interesting thing about the movie is they were gonna kill off Duke but after the ****storm from Hasbro killing off Optimus Prime they quickly changed their minds

I wonder how much input Channing Tatum had in that decision. I guess with the way this last one went they seem to be relying on the Rock to carry the franchise forward.

Definitely better than the first one but still not very good. Even Transformers 2 was better and that's not a compliment to either movie. The only time it felt like "GI Joe" was during the mountain fight scene, which was brilliant. Other than that, I had a hard time caring about anything that happened onscreen.
