Sexton could actually turn in to a pretty good player, his biggest downfall (his beer league shot) is something that could be improved with proper training. I swear he had at least 10-15 grade A opportunities, that he flat out flub because his shot is so weak. If he improves on that, I could see him as a decent depth scorer.

Will be interesting to see if it's 1 way or 2 way.

I'm guessing the first year is 2-way and the second year is 1-way, but we will see.

Sexton is fine for depth but he isn't the answer to any of our lineup concerns.

The potential downside is that teams have said if you offersheet our players, we will hunt your RFA's and UFA's. I would rather offer sheet stamkos with the 1% chance we get him, just to have the same occur to Fowler in a couple years.

Got to feel the first year Teemu retires could be make or break for Sexton, can't see him in our bottom 6.

Sexton is a player I don't have a lot of faith in but he's also not a player like Ryan Carter where I'm comfortable with losing him. Two years will be enough time to for him to sink or swim. Either he makes it work in Anaheim this year, or depth pushes him to the AHL and he works on his game/shot. Then the year after we can see what a more seasoned Sexton can (or can't) do.

I just don't see a place for Sexton. He gets pushed around because of his size and his shot does not make up for it. I don't know where you put him. He is not good enough for the first two lines and he is too small for the bottom two lines.

Two way the 1st year, One way the 2nd.
Good to have this settled, neither party wanted it to drag to arbitration.
Hope Dan has a good camp and find a spot. Great speed, needs to finish.

Shouldn't the title say re-sign

IMO Sexy will never become regular NHLer but is a good injury backup/call up so with that little money you can't complain too much...

I can definitely live with that money being given to Sexton.

As I thought 2-way the first year and 1-way the second.

Hopefully he spends most of this season with Syracuse.

550K isn't bad as the 13th/14th forward in 12-13 if he does not further develop.

Sexton had a rough season last year with the Doan hit, puck to the face and nose surgery.
Hopefully, things will be better this season. He'll should get a shot at the 3rd line.

Sexton fills a hole honestly. He'll take a roster spot on that third line rw that was once a ???. He has tremendous speed and when he's on his game, he has a nice scoring touch, he just has to get his sh** together. Since day one he's reminded me of Andy McDonald, and if he can hit that potential, then we've got a gem on our hands.

But as of right now...he needs to work on his game or he'll be making the AHL his home.

Good to see this didn't go to arbitration. Hopefully he will get some weight and a more confident shot and help out the ducks this season.

Oh yeah and hip check Jumbo Joe to the ice, again.

Meh. Hopefully he's in the AHL this year and is our thirteenth forward next year. His shot and tunnel vision will hold him back from ever being a top 6 forward. So many times he would skate up the ice at full speed only to throw a weak shot on net from the wing because he doesn't have the vision or playmaking ability to do anything else.

The only thing Sexton and McDonald have in common are that both are small (Sexton moreso than McDonald) and fast. McDonald's playmaking ability, vision, intelligence and shooting ability are all miles ahead of Sexton.

if he could improve his shot we could have a good player on our hands... mcmillan/sexton had some decent chemistry but sexton had 0 finish... he has imo decent hands.. just a brutal shot.. up his shot/strength and i think we have a decent 3rd line RW on our hands if we decide to go with 3 scoring lines

Good for Sexy to get something done. Hoping he can improve and help when needed. He doesn't need to get points in every game but he can chip in.
