I am not so sure about Giordano. I dont even know who he is to be honest. I went to practice, but I didnt know what he looked like, and all they had on were #s (which they thought they were OH SO FUNNY cuz they changed #s one everyone)
lemme see, *I* pretty much think that these guys are:
Shoe in-
Bruno St. Jacques
Allan Rourke
Brad Fast
Brennan Evans

Good chance-
Danny Richmond
Mark Giordano (based on what I have heard about him.. nothing is 1st hand)
Ritchie Regehr

Not lookin so good for these guys: *Odd men out kinda deal*
Sean Curry
Deryk Engelland

I sounds like Regehr has a better chance than just "good". Does he throw his weight around? How is his skating?

well if I'm not mistaken the Flames get 3 dmen. so if its not Engelland, consensus would seem to be Evans,Giordano and Regehr

Flames get 9 skaters, doesnt say how they will break it down, or even if they have to. Tonight is my 1st actual game I am going to be able to make, so I will check out whats goin on and post. Yes I think Richie has more then a pretty good chance, but I wouldnt call him a shoe in just yet!

Good game, played MUCH better! I am liking Richie alot... he plays well, works hard. Also Krahn put in a very solid 60 mins. Only one typical "krahn" move... outta the net and hit with the puck, no clue where how or when! Engelland and Johner were scratched tonight along with Rourke and Curry. Plus Loyns is now back in town! Dont have any details, but he looks healthy.

Good to hear Loyns is coming back, he's a very good AHLer if nothing else.

It seems Calgary will have 1 Goalie, 3 Defensemen and 6 forwards, from the sounds of the Article posted today, any ideas on the opening night roster?

Looks like Commodore will be joining Lowell. Presumably he signed an AHL deal with them and thus averted waivers and his NHL salary.

Lowell season preview.

EDIT: Good to have Commodore aboard (even though I'm sick of NHL players playing games for their parent clubs on the sly...where's the union solidarity there[/sarcasm]). I guess Richmond will find himself playing in the ECHL with the 'Blades.

As of right now Lowells roster is listed at 26 players, well 25 since Lombo is on IR and isnt even here yet, which they can carry 22, unless the ahl grants the "expansion" which would allowe them to carry about 25 players. We STILL have on the roster 9 D which obviously we wont carry. If we cut two and carry seven I see, Richmond and Curry heading south, if theres a thrid cut, either Mark Giordano, or Richie Regehr *i think Regehr made his case to stay though* Keep in mind, the flames get 9 skaters and 1 goalie.
Head shots are now on the Lock Monsters web site http://www.lockmonsters.com/roster/
Allan Rourke 26 D (cane)
Brad Fast 27 D (cane)
Brantt Myhres 74 LW (lowell)
Brennan Evans 43 D (FLAME)
Brent Krahn 35 G (FLAME)
Bruno St. Jacques 25 D (cane)
Cam Ward 31 G (cane)
Carsen Germyn 11 RW (FLAME)
Chad Larose 29 RW (cane)
Chuck Kobasew 17 RW (FLAME)
Colin Forbes 22 F (cane)
Craig MacDonald 6 LW (FLAME)
Danny Richmond 5 D (cane)
Eric Staal 12 C (cane)
Gordie Dwyer LW (cane) (didnt play all preseason)
Jim Henkel 9 C (cane)
Justin Taylor 2 LW (FLAME)
Lynn Loyns 23 LW (FLAME)(IR even though hes supposed to be ready to go)
Mark Giordano 34 D (FLAME)
Matthew Lombardi C (IR) (FLAME)
Mike Commodore D (LOWELL or FLAME not sure what he will be counted as)
Mike Zigomanis 18 C (cane)
Richie Regehr 49 D (FLAME)
Ryan Bayda 16 F (cane)
Sean Curry 42 D (cane)
Steve Saviano F (lowell)

Todays lines were
Grey: Loyns, Staal, and Forbes
Red: Bayda, Ziggy and Kobasew

Success!

Lowell won their season and home opener tonight by a score of 5-4 via the ol' shootout!

Unfortuantely, the win sounded more like the result of contributions from the 'Canes then the Flames. Cam Ward started in net, and I believe it was Bayda who scored the winning goal in the shootout for the victory.

Regehr recorded an assist in his first professional came, a goal that came off of his shot and in off the skate of Eric Staal.

Personally I'm not a fan of the shootout. Call me a hockey purist, but a team sport shouldn't be decided by individuals. The fans sounded like they enjoyed it, however.

Lowell's five shooters were Bayda, Zigomanis, Kobasew, Forbes, Staal, and Bayda again, as it went to sudden death.

Hopefully Babs can give us a few more notes on the game in terms of who looked good. For more info, here's the game link:

I agree that the final shouldn't be decided by individuals, but I accually like this rule and wish that the NHL would implement it in a scoring format similar to what soccer uses (3 for Regulation/OT win, 2 for shootout win, 1 for shootout/OT loss). While shootouts seem like a cheep way to decide a game, it gives more excitement to the fans who are paying for the tickets and isn't that what really matters?

MY GOD that game was crazy!! I didnt get to see any of it but the shoot out but WOW........ I just about gave up when the two bruins scored, but then forbes came in to take it 2-1 then came staal...... SWEET deak, he was so pumped.. then Bayda came in on his second shot and I cant even tell you how he scored cuz we were all screamin! The whole objective of this is to basically eliminate ties all together, there will be 5 min OT then 5 player shoot out to decide the winner no matter what! Its so stressful on the guys, and to be honest...... SO STRESSFUL ON ME lol

Great game though......... make sure to tune in tomorrow @ 4 as the LLM take on the Baby Pens!

I thought he was pretty solid, I didnt see the goals he let in as I was busy the 1st two and on the wrong end of the ice for the last! But I have heard from alot of the season ticket holders that he did very good. Looks more solid than Ward did, but that was Wards 1st offcial pro game... so he deserves a lil slack. I am very happy with our team as of right now *knock on wood*, and when Commy is added in (hopeful for next weekend, or maybe this wed night!), I see Giordano getting the cut along with Curry. Also when Lombardi is here, Larose or Myhres will be cut, well larose reassigned and Myhres cut.

AHL STATS

Lowell has two rookies listed on the rookies leader list
Taylor and Regehr are tied for 2nd with like 15 other players.

Also Krahn is listed 25th on the goalie leaders section.

Yes, but that would be retarted.

He -- by all reports -- is playing well, and is also an assistant captain in Lowell.
