Still pissed we couldn't drag that slug Rob over here, instead we had to let him walk.

All that aside, should be a great night tomorrow.

End to end goal vs. red wings in '95 finals still gives me chills. Much love for the high end neids.

I'm baffled by the decision to start Hedberg, how is Marty supposed to find his consistency if he's sitting on the bench?

I don't want to hear the back to back argument, he could play both games.

I am SOOOOO over Nieds leaving.

I think it makes it easier since he's no longer an ACTIVE player in the NHL.

EDIT : And what the hell is up with Hedberg starting?

It's Niedermayer night AND IT'S AGAINST THE DALLAS STARS!!

We won a cup against them WITH Nieds and Marty(in goal). Don't understand Deboer's rationale here.

Maybe he feels his players will play harder if they didn't have Marty to fall back on?

He could play 82 games this year. But the result would be pretty bad. Moose has earned starts and Marty probably had the decision of either night and he wanted the Mtl start instead.

I will be there tonight/tomorrow!!!! I hope to see some board regulars there. Dunno where to find anyone though

let's do this. loved niedermayer when he was here. pretty pissed when he left but that was a long time ago, and it's hard to hold a grudge against a player who helped bring 3 stanley cups to new jersey.

really pumped to see zajac back. glad moose will be starting because marty usually owns montreal. lets go devils!

it's a long season, why wear him down making him play back to backs? there's no point, and nieds night is not a good enough excuse to let him play both.

i wouldn't be surprised if marty is the one who decided which game he wanted to play in.

Probably the best d-man of modern NHL, tough competition with Lids, but Nieds has achieved more. LGD.

I don't wanna use this thread as a tool to bash him, but I'm more upset with him over the 2000 holdout then we he left here in 05. The 98 holdout too, but the big one in 2000 when he, and Arnott held out on contracts the first month, and a half of the season pissed me off. Of course when they were finally re signed I embraced them both, and got over it.

I actually wanted to see him return in 2009. Rob signed here, and I figured it would be a great time to return since Lou loved signing old Devils down the road again. I was bummed when he didn't. I think his cap hit was more then we could afford, or we just didn't wanna give him the money Anaheim offered him for one more year.

Love him or hate him this is his night.

I don't mind Marty, and Moose alternating, but Marty said on opening night in regards to the question of this being his last season that if they want him as more than a backup that will affect his decision to stay or not. While I wouldn't say he's a backup he definitely isn't a guy they use as much as they used to. He's played 70 games more than once. A handful of seasons actually. Moose is a good Goaltender, and sadly one of them will not be here next year. If Marty retired Moose re signs, if Marty stays Moose is let go, and another guy from Albany out of the many they have down there now gets a spot.

Obviously we're all pissed he left, but it's quite obvious he was one of the best to ever play the game and will be forever remembered as a Devil.
