I can't believe the Wild (with how poorly they've played) are second in the Northwest.
Avs are leading, but Detroit, Dallas, and Anaheim are all within range to tie them if they'd played the same number of games. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised though. The Avs' only loss was their only home game.
The Avs were the one team in the Northwest I thought had a chance to dramatically rebound into a contender. People have forgotten about how good they were last year until the injuries started piling up.

Burnzie scored his second tonight.
They were good into December last year, then fell of the charts, but all of their winning came with Stewart and Shattenkirk in the lineup. I think most people had a hard time associating what the '10-'11 Avs did with the team they iced to start this season.
They have good goaltending so far and surprisingly good defense. Stewart was a beast for them but they have other scorers. Looks like EJ and Hejda are making the difference.

Don't want to sound like a dick, but Avs played their best hockey when Stew was out with his hand injury, he scored 13 goals in 36 games last year in Colorado.

Hejda is probably one of the best UFA signings this summer that doesn't get any attention, I can't believe CBJ's let him walk, EJ looks really good and he and Hejda are a great defensive pairing, but our best defensman so far is Kyle Quincey who plays like he did when Avs aquired him from LA.

i was going to say this. like the Wild played their best hockey when Barker was in the lineup last year. I know one is astronomically better than the other but in both cases the one player doesn't make or break the team.

I really thought that trade was going to work out for StL because I don't like EJ. You guys might come out ahead.
Hejda I never thought much of him in Columbus but look where they are now Maybe he's the "missing piece"?

Well he allows EJ to play his game and that's what he was brought in to do, but what's really surprising is that he can handle the puck rather well and he has a hard shot.
Also it's funny that you don't like EJ and I'm not a big fan of Stew.
Speaking of EJ, at 6' 4'' 230 lbs, does he qualify as "Big Bloomington Native Erik Johnson". When do we play Colorado? Terhaar could have a field day...

Go ahead and sound like a dick, never stopped me from posting.
Abs looked pretty good for stretches last night, but their occasional lapses had to be scary for Colorado fans. Giguere was the luckiest I've seen a goalie in my life. Toronto just couldn't put the puck in the open net. That was a very very back and forth game, but was highly entertaining.
It's strange though, after 4 games I still have almost no read on Toronto. They've been so up and down, but still are 3-0-1, with a dominating performance against the Habs, then an epic meltdown against the Sens.

I believe it's "Bloomington native (TM) 'Big' Erik Johnson."
