Turris?

I hope there is nothing behind this. Turris is overrated and overpriced(when it comes to trade). That coupled with a contract dispute I can't imagine how happy he would be to play here.

If it is 1 for 1 Brassard for Turris I might do it, but I don't think Brassard would get it done.

Thoughts?

It's interesting, but I think Phoenix might value Turris a bit more than that.

Wouldn't the Coyotes have to give us more? If I remember correctly, the last time we traded with Phoenix we had to trade even salary since they have no owner.

Brass is at ~3mil and Turris signed for like 1.5 didn't he? I don't see them giving up enough salary/players to come up to the level Brass is making.

Depends on the price. Contract is reasonable and he would have a year+ to prove himself before his next contract.

I admit I haven't payed any attention to him, so I can't say if he's "overrated" or not.

I use overrated loosely and maybe that isn't the right term to describe my thoughts about him. He was suppose to be better than he has performed in his short NHL career (46 points in 127 games). I feel like Brassard is worth more but I think Phoenix would want more than Brassard to get it done. I think Phoenix is overrating/overpricing him, that is what I should have said.

He is signed the next 2 years at about 1.5M but the whole contract hold out is not a good thing to me.

If we are trading Brassard(pure spec on my part, no rumor that I know of) I would rather it be for something we need rather than a change of scenary/cap/salary relief otherwise I would rather just take to our chance on Brassard.

Brassard isn't worth a whole lot right now. That 3+ million price tag is taunting and he's not producing even at the mediocre level he was in the past.

Contract holdouts don't bother me.

Read point #1. If I can get anything of value for Brass (even if it's only value is potential), I'm happy.

According to Shawn Mitchell on twitter when Howson was asked if they could rule out the CBJ as a destination for Turris, Howson responded with "No Comment".

Yea I saw that. Thats what I based the thread on.

Good point on being overpayed and having little value right now. Just have always had high hopes for Brassard maybe I "overrate" him.

The 3 million is definitely taunting the Jackets-for the others I suppose it is merely daunting.

Reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live skit back in the Ackroyd / Belushi days when then-President Carter (played by Ackroyd) stepped into a nuclear reactor with no protective gear on. The ensuing press conference went something like this:

Reporter #1: "Is it true that the President is 40 feet tall?"

Nuclear site PR person: "That's absolutely false (laughing); the President is not 40 feet tall."

Reporter #2: "Is it true that he's 50 feet tall?"

PR person: "No comment".

Something's up - in the end it may not happen, but I have to think with Howson's response that there's an offer on the table.

In the trade rumours/FA talk section, a thread popped up and indicates that Turris may get traded today. I guess we might find out if he is Columbus bound.

I wouldn't mind trading for him if we don't give up too much. I would rather have Turris than Brassard, especially when you take into account how much they both make.

Why? Only because the money? Turris is on a good team with good coaching and has horrible stats, Brassard is on a bad team with bad coaching and put up respectable numbers so far in his career.

And I know stats don't say everything, but still.

No interest in Klesla what so ever.

There is more than one reason he is gone.

Yep, injuries and contract.

Not opposed to getting a Defensive Dman back though

Because of how much Brassard gets paid.

So you're willing to trade the better player because of his salary?

This. We've kind of already got a defensive blueliner with injury issues. I would love to have Klesla back, but I recognize that this isn't popular opinion around here at all.

In a heartbeat.

Of course, apparently Rusty is currently on IR.

When the "better player" hasn't played well in awhile, is 2 years older, and has had injury problems? Yes.

Is Brass worth over 3 million? Uh no. Is Brass really the better player? He is more developed. There is nothing respectable about Brass's numbers. Mediocre at best. This year, pathetic.
