Jonas Hiller - down year?

Is he not the same hiller after the vertigo? he has been putting up some horrendous numbers. i know that they are just stats so i am just wondering from duck fans is he the same hiller but just behind a struggling team or does his play reflect his crappy numbers.

If anything his play is worse than his numbers. He doesn't feel like a .900 save % goalie to me.

I'm getting flashbacks of Shtalenkov.

I think confidence has been his biggest issue.

I think it's pretty evident that Hiller's comeback was rushed. I cannot believe that he is 100% healthy.

This. I don't believe it's a matter of health if he can stop 45 out of 48 shots in the Vancouver game.

Yep this.

I'm 100% sure that he'll be back to his best at some point, but probably next season.

He'll be out next season especially with Gibson proving his NhL readiness in the WJC this year. Wouldnt surprise me at all if Ellis finishes the year and he's traded. Seems like a Gigy after winning the cup type of scenario. Hiller to Blackhawks for 1st plus?

If John Gibson is our number 1 next season I will eat my hat.

Also about WJC, Bobkov has put up .930 and .903 SV% and yet for his club he put up far worse numbers. WJC is not an indication of NHL readiness at all for me. Though Bobkov does have a badass twitter handle.

Completely agree. No chance that Gibson is in the NHL next season. Tarkki(sp?) is a different story, but even though Hiller has not been the Hiller of old, I wouldn't be comfortable trading him because that leaves Ellis as our #1.

+1 to what everyone said about Gibson, and why the hell would we trade him to Chicago/want their 1st? That's probably gonna be a bottom 10 pick.

Watched the game late last night on DVR,,,,Hiller was bad. Unfortunately he is bad more than he is good this season. Not the same goalie at all. At this point, I would rather try to trade him to be honest while he still has some value.

I would almost rather go with Ellis and Tarkki at this point cause Hiller has been so bad and then compounds the problems by opening his mouth and blaming everyone else for his CRAP play.

Maybe I am just frustrated but I have lost all faith in Hiller.

What's the point in trading him when his value is at his lowest? Might as well see what he can do rest of this season and then see where we are at.

We will get ripped off in any trade that involves Hiller atm.

This is assuming he can play better making his trade value go up.....what do we do if he continues to absolutely suck and no one would even take him at the end of the year?

Sure he's sucked for most of this season so far, but look at his previous record. I just don't see why so many people want to give up on him because of half a season after a pretty serious injury for a goaltender.

Not to mention we'd get a terrible deal most likely if we tried to trade Hiller right now.

It's just way to early to think about trading Hiller at all, let's see what happens with him at the end of the season.

You could also say, your assuming that he's going to keep sucking and lowering his value

He has been pretty bad this year and who really knows if he is fully recovered from his vertigo........

I guess I am just frustrated at his play and apparent lack of "looking in the mirror" attitude. I dont think I would be a over him if he had not opened his big mouth and blamed others when he himself has been so bad.

He's not playing bad, it's the defenses fault, just ask him.

I'm not going to say a thing about Hiller right now. Last season at this time, I was hating on him hard. Saying things like, he's not even as good as a back-up, and McElhinney should be the new #1. Crazy things like that. Less than a month later, he turned into a goaltending god.

I doubt it'll happen again, but I'm not going to make the same mistake twice.
