I've advocated moving Horcoff to wing over a month ago. He's terrible at using his line mates, centers need to be good passers. Horcoff doesn't know how to pass.

If you want someone who can dump and chase, or get it poked off his stick attempting to bring it over the blueline all by himself for the 20th time in a night, HORCOFF IS YOUR MAN!

I also expect Gagner to pull dangles at the blue line while Hemsky streaks in majorly offside at least 400 times tonight. But I figure that's the lesser of 2 evils. As long as our faceoffs are above 15% our possession time won't be affected as badly as Horcoff's turnover hands will affect us.

maybe, only a coach as bad as Renney could play a guy 25 minutes a night for almost half a season and not realize he is a marginal 3rd line talent.

Or maybe there's politics involved with making the highest paid player on the Oilers captain and giving him primo icetime.

... in any case, he's on the 3rd line tonight where he should be. But I pretty much fully expect Renney to juggle the lines before the end of the 1st period anyways sticking Horcoff in Gagner's position. I guess we'll see.

Who's the replacement?

Beautiful December day here in downtown San Jose.....amazing.
The first time I saw him Live as an Oiler he had 5 points. Hopefully you get to see something similar.

well, they are running out of positions to play Gagner. When this doesn't work, when do they finally make the decision that is already obvious?

same goes for hemsky. how many more line combinations are there to try and find something that works for these two?

soft players have to produce, or they are useless.

The dilemma we face is that he also can't shoot, rendering him completely useless on offense.

This is the perfect scenario, One problem, Shawn Horcoff has a long term contract, with all the goodies included, with a few bucks to kick in. Most of us know that he would be best suited to play a 3rd line role. So why does management keep playing him sooo much in every situation, being treated as a pet, and he still can't seem to succeed? Playing him on the 3rd line would make way to much sense for these clowns

Maybe back in the day, but he's more of an Oiler killer on most nights this season.

But seriously, anybody other than MacTavish v.2 is fine with me. It's clear as day that either the players have tuned this coach out and refuse to play the system he has implemented or this coach just can't execute a proper game-plan for this type of team at this level.

My patience has worn out with him and rightfully so. He can continue along with the ridiculous quotes pretending that his wacky synonyms that completely dance around the issues are working instead of realizing what really needs to be dealt with.

Replace him with anybody but himself.
