ok, so Martin is out, Cunneyworth gets a chance to show what he's got as a HC...

he's definitely put in his time, both as HC at AHL level and as an assistant at NHL level, interesting to see how he manages in his first HC stint.

Hope he comes in and proves himself to be a long-term solution!

Welcome to the job Randy!

I remember Pierre Mcguire speaking, very very highly of him as a coach... hope he's right!

next question... how much longer does PG get now?

This move to put in Cunneyworth as interim coach makes me think they will wait to see what pool of coaches are available in the offseason and maybe offer the job to Roy. Roy doesnt want to leave the Remparts until his youngest son finishes playing for them (this is his last yr if I'm not mistaken).

Anyone else concerned about Cunneyworth being interim for the rest of the year?
Maybe it's to gauge the French medias response to an English coach? I mean why not go after a coach like Carlyle or Crawford?
Just hope they go for the best coach and not one bases on him being French.

i would rather wait and get a very good HC this off-season

why are they putting Larry Carriere behind the bench?

what a gong show

Thank you Gainey!
It's crazy, your team won the Stanley Cup, and you're still clinging to excuses. You're not exactly coming in peace, either.

Yes, why don't argue with us. Afterall, we were watching only 82 games per year. Get a grip.

Gauthier was never given the interim position, they signed him right away to a 3 year extension.

Ironic that if Muller stayed, he'd be the head coach right now. Probably more ideal than Carolina.

Wow, I literally was going to come on and post in the fire the coach thread, I thought it was possible if we suffered another loss today. Not just saying this cause it happened.

Kind of surprised before the game and everything.

Maybe Gauthier got offended when he blamed the youth for the loss against Philly. Cause Louis gotting a standing ovation and Gauthier didn't want him blamed and sat for scoring.

Surprised to say the least. Though he'd have at least this year. Don't think that it will change a lot 'cause you change a guy, but I don't think you change the philosophy that much. I guess we'll see about that.

Oh and congrats Jacques Martin and Marcel Aubut. That firing, thanks to Bob Gainey, just got you 1 million dollars!

Christmas coming early this year?

I will wait and see who his replacement is going to be before saying this is a good or bad move. Never been a big fan of his but I also know there is worst out there.

Our current standing is about where I expect the team to be given our roster, maybe slightly underachieving.

Hopefully we get someone not afraid to openly criticize our overpaid vets.

I hope the new coachs will be different and helps this team to develop its young players. In the last years, the habs have had enough young players traded or relased and playing better elsewhere because they were given a real and fair chance to produce. I've seen enough of players like Gill who were given too much ice time...

Unless they choose really well, the Habs just got easier to beat!

No they didn't. You're the bruins, you're always gunna choke against us.
